yeh thats what i was going to write. what i actually wrote for nick was: photomontages, flashbacks, animations of biological processes and using the web to find out more, and how he lives alone and apartment is large?
for meryl:paintings, animations and where she lives.
andy: setting and lighting - apartment messy- his life style
julia and train - large homes but always alone, sign of isolation and loneliness.

do you think this will suffice? i wrote about 5 pages for it lol.

Yeah! All that is what I would write! Don't worry about the end montage... your ideas are enough and if you were able to write five pages then you obviously were able to explain your ideas well! Good job! I was going to write on that topic but then I saw "settings" and I didn't want to take the risk considering I had never wrote a prac essay on it :P

Your the first person I know who wrote on it so well done.

Jim had an effect on Nick, realizing how he has taken his life for granted, but not like you would base an entire paragraph on the 3 seconds of film and his most awesome quote, "woah", whilst looking at the stars.

Hahahahha

Oh really, media student eh? Could you tell me if 'silence' counts as a setting then? I didn't do prompt one, cuz I was a bit confused as whether 'setting' involved things like silence, and light and stuff like that. I thought of setting as more 'context', (like in psych, eg in a classroom, in a ship)

silence wouldnt be counted as setting. as you said, setting is basically the context such as where they live. for andy, his aprtment reflects his inner lifestyle of messy and disorganised.

lol
why didn't anyone mention anything about how some characters do not see new ways in life?
like jim, the drugged-out boy in the bin and cathy....

Oh my, i was totally about to mention him but ran out of time and thought he would pull away from my idea.

It's way to easy to just agree completely rather than to disagree, all characters did somehow change due to their course of events (note we are not saying whether it is for the better or worse). Jim had an effect on Nick, realizing how he has taken his life for granted, but not like you would base an entire paragraph on the 3 seconds of film and his most awesome quote, "woah", whilst looking at the stars.

lol i didn't talk about his quote
i talked about the darkness of the night and the close up shot of him and his act of falling back into the bin and continue smoking and how it demonstrates his reluctance to see new ways in his life. evidence dont have to be quotes~~~

yeah.. did you also talk about the inner 'urban-jungle' - concrete everywhere... graffiti.. train lines = represent the way in which the characters are entrapped within their own city [and ultimately, own fears].. and you could've even mentioned something about the bird symbolism here - Meryl looks up at the birds flying freely in the air and she craves for this smooth flowing spirit.

Come to think of it.. I actually don't mind the first topic.. it wouldv'e been a good one.

I did the first one and focused on setting/the train

Intro- blah blah normal intro stuff contention etc.
Para 1- Andy's apartment, echos his uncontrollable life and contrasts against his view that "everybody has an agenda"
Para 2- Julia's house, unfinished renos shows how rob didn't commit suicide also reveals that andy wasn't going to commit suicide- unfinished stuff in life (anna, baby etc) parallell to the renos
Para 3- Train- ominous symbol of death, nick choosing to run against it= choosing to fight cancer etcetc
Conclusion- wrap up, implicitly reveals subtletys to the audience rather than explicitly stating them= better film yay for watt.

I did the second question as well, I talked about Nick, Andy and Phil in sequence but I didn't include much quote there.... Too stressful to remember those quotes.... >,<.. Can I obtain a good result without much quote??
