I just want a 25. Juuust a 25. I'd probably die if I got 24, knowing that somehow maybe a couple of marks would've booted it up to 25.

But no I wouldn't redo it again, cuz that means I'd have to stay back and repeat year 12, haha.

Lol yep that's me who got a 24 hahaha. And all I needed was a 25 to get into my desired course :(

I tried repeating it but it clashed with Accounting and Economics and I wasn't willing to give up my two best subjects for it. I might consider doing maths at uni to make up for my pre-req and try transfer but who knows. I'm sorta glad and sorta not glad that i didnt take it up this year again.

I actually had considered this. (as did Costa too)

But I thought with a score of 37, it might be quite hard to actually beat that score.

So I didn't. My opinion is though don't worry about this until you get your results.

Personally, I really can't think of a course that would require 35 in Methods.
Does 37 get scaled to 43? If so I wouldn't be disappointed at all :O

And as far as I know (I remember checking the VCAA FAQ earlier this year), there's not penalty in repeating a subject. They called it a simple tactic to maximise scores.

I've heard of some schools that get students to do three 3/4s in year 11 and then repeat two of them etc.

Ergh I'm sorry Costargh, you must've been very upset. I hope it'll go well for you anyway.

how depressing. i went and checked something out. if i did normal methods i wood have gotten a 25 in methods :(
but i did methods cas where there is more competition, which is why cas scales up slightly more than normal methods. but what matters to me is my raw score not scaled score :(:( maybe i can make an argument out of it.

Exam 1 (identical for methods and methods cas)
Methods Mean:          34.0/80
Methods (CAS) Mean: 37.3/80

Methods:       18% of people got D+ or lower
Methods CAS: 14% of people got D+ or lower
(I got D+ for exam 1)

Exam 2
Methods Mean:       71.2/160
Methods CAS Mean: 79.7/160

Methods:        49% of people got C+ or lower
Methods CAS: 38% of people got C+ or lower
( I got C+ for this exam)

This is why CAS scales up more than normal methods. More than likely a 24 in methods cas should be seen equally to 25 in methods. ??? thoughts? haha

Great idea costargh. You have a case on your hands. Show them your exceptional business achievements as well (PCW awards).

Make sure you're prepared to answer questions like, what makes you think you can handle the maths in commerce now?
