Haha I've done similar in my SACs but I don't think I have the balls to do it in an exam. Props to ya!!

In one of my SACs I wrote motivational phrases all over the page, haha. I was like, "Go Alex!!! You can do it!!"

The bound reference thing is a load of bollocks if you understand the course well enough. One of my friends got 50 in spec without bringing anything in (and yeah, he was smart, but not a complete genius - I managed to beat him in UMEP maths ).

I think I opened my bound reference once in the spec exam (when I did methods, they still had the two 1½ hour exams with a double-sided cheat sheet...).

It's all about having a security blanket really. You may not need to use it, but knowing you have it if need be is comforting.
