I heard from my teacher that from next year, English wont have to be included in top 4 subjects anymore. Is that true ?

I wish. But I highly doubt it.

No. It certainly hasn't been made non compulsory. If it had there would be widespread media coverage about it.

This supposition gets raised every year and it's obviously not true lol.

I guess you wouldn't want someone who can't speak English well doing Law or Journalism. ;)

that doesn't mean they can do law or journalism. Pre-requisites ensure that you are qualified" enough to get into the course. That is why for law, generally the pre-requisite is to get above 35 in english.

How long do the Contexts stay around for before they're replaced with new (even more ambiguous) ones?

ehh i don't see their impatience, if there is any. i mean hello? ESL! wait did i mention all the LOTEs that are available to international students. I would say that we're at a disadvantage because sending your child overseas to study costs a lot, and the students must damn well be smart. So it's either they're good at maths/science which scales like a mother fucker which = good ENTER anyway or good at humanities/arts which would make you good at english anyway.

win/win situation for international students

or they can do IB and gtfo :P jkz.
