i agree perfectly with Mao on the last sound question --> what made be cautions against C was the fact that 'different frequencies reflect differently'. correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any mention of this in any yr 12 physics book. it might be a valid point, but VCAA is out there to test what the course is on, not on all the random concepts and theories that the world of physics can possibly involve. and then, there's nothing 'wrong' in D.  without the curtains, the sound will bounce off the walls, not only once, but many times, thus reaching the audience by many different pathways. loss of sound will occur when they're perfectly out of phase, while distortion will occur due to various degrees of superimposition (ie think lots of different frequencies bouncing around the room like crazy...)

so yeah, hope my physics was ok there :) someone please tell me if i'm wrong!
everyone I've spoken to said C...but no-one's given be a concrete answer on why. and why could D be wrong? so I dunno - hope I'm right! hehe

Yay, they got D!

After looking through their solutions, I didn't get a single mark for those questions (forgot the s :(), but on the bright side, everything else looks okay. It all depends on my explanations now. Hopefully the assessors are nice!

Same here.
Reckon they could accept different representations?

Magnetic field through the coil!
Yeah I know but part of the rings constitute the magnetic field through the coil (and were labelled with arrows)
Hmmm...I dunno.
Maybe 1/2 then but I think it would be a pretty common mistake.

Oh man..

In 2006, it said field lines, and it had rings. They didn't say you couldn't show which way it was going outside the loop, right? Right!?
