A study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in ESL, at least 35 in Chemistry and at least 25 in one of Biology, Mathematical Methods (either), Specialist Mathematics or Physics is needed.

Minimum Entry
For the Bachelor of Biomedicine the minimum ENTER for 2009 is 95.

Not sure if 95 means it's guarantee. I don't think it does. Good luck, though.

it will almost definately go up as UoM have culled medicine
Thus, the cycle;

Potential UoM med students >>> to Monash Med School
Potential Monash med students >>> To melbourne biomed (pushing up the enter)
Potential Melbourne biomed students >>> To science at Melbourne (pushing up the science enter also)

Thats a bit simplistic

Some students might just want to go through UoM the whole away and elect to take biomed, with the guaranteed post-grad entry

Alot of med applicants also have other courses in their top preferences such as law or engineering

There are also a lot of potential undergrad students wanting to get into medicine who if unsuccessful both here and interstate, may have no other preferences and take a year off to sit the umat again

I might've misunderstood your post, but are you saying if you do biomedicine, you're guarenteed a post-graduate medicine course?

If you get over 99 you are guaranteed a place in full-fee post-grad medicine (pending certain requirements.)

Yeh knowing this really relieved me. Most people thought Melbourne Model actually made it harder to get into med, but it seems having guaranteed entry actually makes it EASIER since theres actually (I think) no UMAT and interview requirement which you are ranked for (the interview just tests 'adequate' communication skills, I really don't think it counts for much...) I guess the 'only' thing you needa do is get a 99.00+ then (easier said than done <_< but this was pretty much always a requirement to be safe anyhow...)

Wow! I was always under the impression that the only form of guaranteed places were offered to applicants achieving an ENTER of 99.90 or greater. Seeing this is very comforting and uplifting! :)

Hey guys
I'm also aiming to get into this course, and my mum (who works in a school near mine) got an email the other day about Melb Uni courses.
I'm sorry to report that the number of students who have put Biomed at Melb Uni as their first preference has increased by 47% compared to last year.
Despite Psychlaw's simplified version, he was actually right.
the ENTER will go up this year...but hopefully only as far as 96/97!
Good luck to everyone

ENTER: 98.45

Thats a suprising figure

http://www.wss8.vtac.edu.au/appstats/appstats-ug.html

This data shows that biomed wsa listed as first preference 572 times, which means last year only 389 people listed it as a first preference last year

I put this course in as my 4th preference. Does this disadvantage me?
