I got a scholarship from Monash, the Monash Scholarship for Excellence.  It's no HECS fees and $6k a year.  It's only applicable if I do get an offer from Monash though, and because I applied for med, I might not get it.

But I also called the UoM people and they are offering me some National Scholarship which is no HECS and $5k a year, so win-win I guess

God I'm so deliriously happy.

Which UoM scholarships are you talking about? Access or National or another scholarship I never heard of?

I remember that my Melb Access scholarship offer arrived on the same day as the ENTERs coming out. And the Monash one arrived the next day.

Those scholarships are for all courses at UoM..are there still any courses besides the B.Eng that are not new gen?

This is a quote from the Scholarships website

"Eligibility
To be considered for a Melbourne National Scholarship applicants must:

-achieve an ENTER or equivalent of 99.9 or above (or be an indigenous student with an ENTER of 90.0 or above); and
-complete an Australian Year 12 or the IB in 2008; and
-apply for a place in a course offered at the University of Melbourne in 2009 through VTAC and satisfy the prerequisite studies for your nominated course; and
not have undertaken any previous study at tertiary level excluding TAFE and extension studies undertaken as part of a Year 12 program; and
-be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa
-apply for a Melbourne National Scholarship. "

I didn't get invited 2 a ceremony last year XD
Cab would have cost them a fair bit tho, in my case

Oh, and really, u shouldn't turn down any scholarship offer IMO.
Even if u don't think u're gonna do that course, u should try 2 leave doors open.

I had my heart set on UoM this time last year (and my ENTER made my hopes a reality - I had a guaranteed spot as a KLDYS).
I hadn't even considered Monash until I was offered the scholarship.
My initial reaction was more like "Wow!! Thank-you!!!" 2 the lady on the phone when my thoughts in my head were more like "I'm not even gonna g2 Monash anywayz..."
The scholarship was tempting enuf 2 change my mind tho, and Monash really is a good university.
I didn't think I would enjoy studying there, but I do quite like it.

Sounds like u'll actually profit from going 2 university!!!
(Like, during those years - obviously going 2 uni is normally an investment u profit from with higher income anywayz, jst b4 some1 attacks me on that )

when's the scholarship ceremony? can you only attend if you intend to accept the scholarship?
i got offered a scholarship to monash uni as well, but i'm hoping melbourne uni wants to offer me a scholarship too *crosses fingers*
