Nah, it depends on what sort of teacher they are. Bottles of alcohol are very potential gifts tho. Wine, bourbon or beer depends who they are.

Flowers/wine/chocolates for females

Alco/books/anything for males.

My Methods teacher actually called me up to congratulate me. We were on the phone for like 15 minutes talking. She's possibly the nicest person ever. I reaallly want her for Further next year!

Probs favourite author, you would expect someone to own their favourite book...

Or a book regarding your subject in some different aspect or view.
