People on the left believe the government has a large role to play in our economic lives, while people on the right believe the government has a large role to play in our social lives (censorship, etc.)

This is a massive generalisation, and it is certainly not a dichotomy. I believe the government has a little role to play in any aspect of our lives, social or economical, while Rudd's cabinet has shown an expression for a large role in our economic and social lives (they are exploring censorship of the Internet). I say: fuck off, and leave me alone.

What this article shows is that the economic intervention advocated by the Left, is not necessary to help our economic growth. We can do fine without a big government.
