The article argues that young people are social liberal and economically liberal in their views, which is essentially the traditional liberal philosophy. The author argues somewhat implicitly that the Liberal Party was lost its way, and was no longer liberal in the traditional sense. Hence, to capture the hearts and minds of the young the Liberal Party must embrace both economic freedom and social/political freedom.

I agree. What is the use of economic freedom if I don't have the social freedom to choose the gender of my partner?

Australia has opened up to a higher level of tolerance towards social issues like homosexuality, and the political parties should move in that direction.
