To refer to my posts on my Xanga (which has been closed down for the past month or so now), is to incorrectly assume that one cannot mature and change his humility in regards to personal viewpoint.

Without the aid of your sight, I closed down my Xanga a month ago because I already realised that I did not like the way I had posted on my Xanga. I have taken a much more reasoned stance in recent times, and the dogmatism of my Xanga had died down over '06 and '07 anyway - representative of my calming and maturing self.

Please do not judge me when I was 15. Judge me now when I am 17, and about to turn 18. I take full responsibility for what I have said, but I ask of you to turn the other cheek on this one. There was a very fiery incident on my Xanga in '05 (or possibly before, I can't remember), and at first I made some enemies, but we talked and understood each other and we ended up as very good friends (MacRobbian).

Also, in defence of my current assumptions of the "typical artsy lefty": I would say that they are not very absurd assumptions. I did not mean to judge the unique MacRob cohort, but to judge the high school cohort in general - they will typically lean towards the left, with the idealistic ideas that we shouldn't be "enslaved to the dollar."

I assumed it was just some viewer of FSN, not some reader of my Xanga! People on this forum know that the assumption was not very brash, considering that my political viewpoints are quite outnumbered here (even if silently).

Coblin- I should explain that I'm not serious about this at all. I just thought it was hilarious that a comment my friend made about someone whose Xanga she used to read got back to the Xanga-writer (you) himself. My friends and I like to take the mickey out of absolutely everything- it's not a particularly mature style of humour, but one nonetheless. 'Everything' includes - but is in no way limited to - (ex)-Melbourne High boys, and people with Xangas.

I did find the Macrob stereotype mildly irritating- but hey, you dish it out, you should expect to receive some back.
I believe that my friend did find your Xanga mildly irritating for reasons that I listed before, but I wouldn't say that she was particularly worked up about it.
In general, I would agree with you on your point about the idealistic aspirations and values of teenagers in general.

I was pleasantly surprised at your mature response, and immediately ceased laughing. Kudos on your method of dealing with confrontation. As I said, I don't know you at all in real life and was not in reality offended by anything you said (merely amused), so I'm not in a position to turn the other cheek. I would were I or my friend truly offended though, as you have obviously considered my response.

I've never encountered this forum before, but it looks to be a valuable resource. I know BoS is good... I'll defs look into this one.

I can't believe girls have spent ages continuously reading Collin's post. I think throughout that time I admired the kid - he grew, he spoke strongly about whatever it was that took his fancy, he articulated and argued, and generally provided an entertaining+intellectual blogsite for a large number of readers. When I first caught whiff of this debacle, I certainly didn't think it was an attack on anything political whatsoever - my impression was that any MacRob girl who can label him with that title couldn't possibly have the brains and whatnot to even comprehend anything mildly political - not further than the MacRob trains of thought anyway

and FUNNY HOW THEY ONLY SEEM TO POINT AT THE POSTS REGARDING EDUCATION, etc, only because I used to laugh at the fact that it seems the only time Collin have his readers relate to topic on post is through topics they understand - that is, not politics or philosophy, but purely VCE-based rants that VCE-based kids can only ever think about (it seems). I guess I was right, except what good is reading and discussing and forming opinions (that you hold, evidently, until.. now? how long's that been, lovey?) if you didn't even have the decency to argue? especially if you seemingly revisited his site..over and over? or does gloating at a screen with your friends feel like too much fun?


ALL THAT ASIDE, the kid's grown, man. note that he's entered his 2nd year in university, and before completely closing down his Xanga he periodically checked through his older posts and made them redundant. it was his way of saying "there goes it, the stupid ideas", which is more than a lotta people can let go of, really
