Omg.. we had 144 students do units 3&4. Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects. Even though we had seven times the amount of people get 40 or above this year, overall, we did worse than last year's group. ;_;
Is your school's median more important than the benefits yr 11's experience doing yr 12 subjects?
If I didn't do Psychology in year 11, I wouldn't have had any experience for year 12, nor the skills necessary to study or the amount of effort that is required. I believe it is almost paramount to allow year 11's to do year 12 subjects. It can only benefit them, so why degrade their efforts by saying 'Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects'? It is very good preparation for year 12, so you may want to reconsider what you have just written, champorado. :)

+1
Hopefully

Think  Champ is a bit angry, and probably didn't think about what he was saying and obviously took a very close minded view on the topic... 'OMG more dumb ass year 11's means lower study scores zomggggg'

Year 12 subjects in year 11 are great on so many levels.

This year's yr 12 just beat last year's yr12 by .5. :D
And our English Head told us this year we were the worst english classes she has ever seen in 10 years. Hah. We sure showed her.
My school got an average ENTER of 89.5, with the dux getting 99.7.
We had a median SS of 36, with 25% getting SS's of over 40.
Pretty good year I have to say. :)
2007 - History Revolutions (35)
2008 - English (40), Literature (37), National Politics (37), Maths Methods (32), History Renaissance (39)
ENTER: 93.20

2009 - Bachelor of Arts (ANU)
2010 - Bachelor of Classical Studies (ANU)
Majors: Ancient Greek, Ancient History, Archaeology

My mate scored 4.8 as his enter score :)

I'll try get a copy of the letter/screen shot of the results page for you all, its pretty funny.

He did nothing all year, and in his exams he just drew dicks all over the paper :)

Was he obsessed with dicks ? lol.
or worried about the size/performance of it. xD

Wow. Thats funny...4.8...

Anyways, I bought the newspaper yesterday and had a look at my school's statistics...
Average SS = 28 (Stable from last year)
Study scores above 40 = 1% (dropped from 4% last year)

Of course not (I thought with the internet slang, emoticons, etc that my post would be construed as hyperbolic, but I guess not). I did methods in year 11 and it was a great experience. I didn't get a very good mark, but it taught me that I'd have to work a lot harder if I wanted to get a good score. I'm sure the year 11s at my school learnt a lot from doing a year 12 subject, and they were probably more motivated (considering they didn't have to pick up a year 12 subject) than the majority of my year level as well.

The only thing that I wanted to say is that I was disappointed that the achievements of several of my peers (the girl who's supported me all year got a 41 in VCD. So proud!) weren't reflected in a particular statistic. It was a post made in haste, and to blame it on my school's recent policy change (extending the choice of 3/4 subjects available to year 11s) was a poor choice on my part.

Also, I'm still winning this 'worst school' thing. 24 and 1. I'm not gonna apologise for that. My school's textbook and teacher choices are pretty bad.

jsimmo: yeah, Bendigo has a pop of 80-100 thousand [depending on how you measure it] and BSSC is the only state school catering to yr 11 and 12's, [there being 2 private schools]

champorando: it was really a rhetorical question. As Brendan often says, schools exist to benefit students, not the other way round

  [sorry, I can't quote atm.]
