i think its mostly a load of crap. when two people from different unis interview for a job, the employee is gunna hire whoever will be best suited for the job, who has better attributes and is going to be more valuable. they aren't gunna give a toss which uni they went to. why would they hire somebody from UoM, when the guy that went to VU is going to be a better assett to the company? they wouldnt.
Well... ah that is a very rare case. Most places will prefer a UoM/MU student over a VU student.
That's why I'm trying to do courses outside my course to enhance my chances of getting a job
I've been doing some thinking and I doubt I want to do first year uni AGAIN! so I'll stick with VU
no, it is not 'very rare'. THEY WILL HIRE THE BETTER PERSON, NOT THE PERSON THAT WENT TO UOM.
however you could argue that the people that get into UoM in the first place are smarter and more determined etc...
put yourself in the employee's shoes, then have another think.
they're going to prefer a person that went to UoM? sure. but they are going to prefer a person that suits the job and will earn their company money, even more.
