Hi I was wondering if anyone has a decent anti-virus program that can be downloaded for free. If so please let me know the link. Thanks!

Avast home edition is for free and it has real time protection and boot scanning.

It should. If you do happen to have a virus on your computer, install it and try schedule a boot scan.If avast still picks up viruses after that, then you will probably need to use the link here.

It worked for my computer.

AVG free is also good, but it takes about 30 minutes trying to find your way from all the advertising bullcrap to find this tiny text link to download the free version, haha.

Don't use the LinkScanner on AVG. It's laggy and unnecessary (pre-loads pages that you're not even going to visit).

i had AVG and even had a trial of the PRO version and its pretty okay, but found avast recently and have not turned back. AVG doesnt seem to pick up as many bugs in my case and crashes unexpectedly. Avast is better looking, and i feel gives a little better scan. Also avast actually talks to you :P

*Although note, you may want to change the virus alarm sound that comes default with avast- its given me sooo many heart attacks.  :D

Lolllzzzz!!!- it happens at about 11:30 at night when its all quite and the speakers are up, once even woke up my dad who had a 3 am shift that time. Although i did change the virus detected siren into the sound of homer simpson screaming, still scares the shit out of you though  :D

I have Trend Micro Internet Security Pro... Not really sure if it is an all-round anti-virus protector, but it really works a treat when I have a million applications open on the Internet. :)

Trend Micro isn't particuarly great.

If you're gonna pay for your AV protection, you should get Kaspersky (sp?)

anyone tried the full zonealarm suit, the whole antivirus/antispyware/firewall package? OMG does it LAGG in istelf and the whole computer. The only thing from zone alarm that seems to work pretty decently is the free standalone firewall. Also what about 'antivir' ? i used to swear by that in a past life.
