I had alot of bad experience a couple of years ago where i would make it to the intervew stage (for advertised positions) and simply not hear back from the place at all

I was going for entry level office jobs at the time and if i saw a reasonabley attractive female waiting to be interviewed as well, i knew i was stuffed, haha

LoL, how does a reasonably attractive girl affect your chances of getting hired?

Maybe she was really ignorant and self-obsessed? Maybe she had really bad habits like chew gum whilst in the interview, or kept rolling her hair arond her finger (like, every girl does this!). Perhaps she doesn't look the assessor in the eyes or makes strange noises...

Of course, that saying can be so true in that 'looks can be deceiving', so don't just presume these things, because they are not always entirely correct.

They generally had a receptionist component to them, office managers tended to be males, there are other factors too, but i wouldn't underestimate the advantage of being female when going for receptionist type positions

Yeh, i applied for a couple of jobs where it was hinted that you should supply a photo, although it was never explicitly stated

I think there was this one place in the city, where you needed to be an Emo to work there. I think you apply online or in store and need to give in a photo, otherwise they won't think you are a true Emo or something. Lol, I just discovered it a few days ago as well.

Yeah it's expected if a shop selling scene (emo) trend clothes is run by people who are into that type of fashion/music.

That's just weird in my opinion... you don't need to be emo to know what they wear >_> I guess it's just that people are more likely to buy clothes from people who are similar to them..

That's just weird in my opinion... you don't need to be emo to know what they wear >_> I guess it's just that people are more likely to buy clothes from people who are similar to them..

I guess this is like Events or something... Big girls work there, and this allows other big girls to feel comfortable when they shop there as people of their own kind are vending the merchandise.

If u ended up doing some training, could it really have gone that bad..?

Yeah, the manager asked me to stay and do a couple days of unpaid training...
Pffft, stingy asians.
I think that was their form of "interview" LoL  Try before you [hire]?
Then they will tell me if they want me or not after the training.
She didn't even tell me how much i would get paid an hour, and i didn't ask because i didn't want to give her a bad impression.

I don't like the environment very much though, its not like a typical mobile store, its like a dodgy cheap version...
While i was their today, customers only bought a phone case, screen protector, a car charger, stuff like that.
And two people came to return their phones and change it to a new one

Alot of the customers speak chinese because the store is located on the corner of Little Bourke street, and i'm not that comfortable speaking to customers in chinese

Wait until you get your study score for Chinese, I bet it will be much better than you expect.

That is tight! Unpaid training? Even that lousy Cotton On paid me for training... Actually, they didn't... So we're in the same boast when it comes to dodgy companies.

I feel really shy when i'm there and it doesn't feel right serving customers in chinese...lol

I'm still waiting for a reply from a interview i went to yesterday, and there's another couple of jobs i wanna apply for...
Is it worth it to stick with this place?
Or is it just a waste of time?
