And yet, Sri Lanka is ranked 4th in the world for tests. Also six of our players are consistently ranked in the top ten for batting and bowling. You cannot judge how good the team is based on those statistics, Sri Lanka just started playing tests in the last 30 years or so, compared to teams like Australia who have been playing for more than 100 years.

Sri Lanka's got a few star players and a lot of (as Punter would call them) passengers. Sangakkara and Jayawardene are good, Murali and Mendis with the bowlers are very good. Rest of the team hasn't done enough against quality opposition (especially away from home)

Not disputing that you're 'winning' against the lowest ranked test team in the world. But I am 100% sure that Bangladesh scored 413 or so in the 4th innings of the last test match between SL and Bangla. Sri Lanka are a really good team, but at the moment I think that the 4th place on the test rankings is where they should sit.

But anyway, that's going off topic, should go back to Australia vs. South Africa. I think Australia can win this one if they don't implode again. Without Graeme Smith South Africa probably wouldn't be able to manage another 400+ chase, and Australia's tail should probably wag long enough to get that 400 up
