I think the new main title is much better and more detailed, which isn't surprising considering it is going to be "...broadcast[ed] in high-definition".  Also, a runaway couch that can run all around the world and into space?  Truly unique in The Simpsons.

It's probably got something to do with the refresh rates of SDTV vs. HDTV. I do agree though, it can be hard to adjust to something that's nearly life-like (a friend of mine has a 50" plasma which looks like a bloody window into the scene - too life-like!)

Some bits were good, but others just seem like they were tacked on for the hell of it... for example maggie vs the other baby, lisa popping in to finish her saxophone solo, and the magpie?

I like it! I think it's an appropriate update and looks preeetty. I'm glad that the general gist of it wasn't changed too much. Also, I think it's important to point out that most opening credits aren't 2 minutes long. It depends on how long the episode is. There already was about 3 versions of the opening credits which were all the same footage, just played at different lengths.

New one is nice but old one gives alot more memories
