Gday!

I'm considering getting a macbook and am curious to know which is better iwork or microsoft office for mac?

I've heard office for mac doesn't work that well, can someone verify this? Does iwork have a program like word? and if so is it better?

Thanks in advance  :)

Office for Mac works fine and I'd recommend it over iWork, probably because you'd already be used to Office.

Oh, and iWork comes with Pages (Word), Numbers (Excel) and Keynote (Powerpoint). You can save your files in Office formats as well. They're well designed and intuitive, and will probably run faster than Office on Mac, but I'd still recommend Office for the reason I said above.

Office for Mac is generally as capable as the Windows version, apart from Excel, which fails compared to the Windows version (no pivot tables, no VB macros no many other things). There is no program that can compete with Office in terms of power and usability in my opinion. I personally don't like the Office for Mac interface compared to the neat ribbon in office 07 though.

But you gotta admit, Keynote pwnts the hell out of Powerpoint! They're so many features, effects and it's just so easy to use.
