How long does your laptop battery last?

I know its my own fault for leaving it on charge while I'm using it. It's not my fault. Laptops should come with a big yellow sticker on the box saying, "Don't use while charging!"
I try to 'train' my battery by charging it full, then taking it off charge, then when its low again I put it back on charge (obviously while I'm on it). But its really annoying because I'm always forgetting and all of a sudden the screen goes black and it hibernates...


On another note, is there some sort of notification I can add to WARN me when its low battery. For some reason a window bubble thing doesn't pop up when its at critical stage (like less than 10% of battery remaining I think) like it used too, and I've added a sound that's supposed to play when its low as well but I never hear it.
Any programs or something else you guys know of that'll help?

LOL yes you can, but when you want to take it off charge and use it as it was intended to be used... you know.. on your lap, perhaps. Then you're not supposed to constantly leave it in, it makes the battery lazy I guess.

Battery life simply decreases over time.

Over time as in couple of years? Because I've had my laptop for less than a year and it used to run for a long time on battery, well over an hour and a half.

Now it doesn't reach 5 minutes, no joke.

Did you leave laptop on like overnight or for days? It reduces battery life real quick that way...

To be honest I'm not really sure, it doesn't matter anywayz, I usually just use it without the battery while it's plugged in.

Mine lasts 3 hours without being plugged in, but my boyfriend's laptop lasts like 6 hours.

wow 6 hours! mines about 2.5 to 3 hours. My old laptop went from 3.5 hours to 1 hour after 3 years

~3.8 hours with full brightness
~5.5 hours with very dim (but acceptable) light

Not sure why it varies so much.

Oh and my old laptop lasts for ~25 minutes unplugged.

Like 1hour30mins at max [so it says - but if you do stuff - aka: play games - maybe 1 hour]
The light turned down and stuff 2hours-2:30 mins maybe.

but then again.. its plugged into the wall like 24/7. {shuda got a desktop =_="}

Other than getting a better battery or keeping all the settings to the minimum - not really. Unless u wanna keep it on sleep 24/7 lol.

1.  Change the brightness.  You should see some considerable changes.
2.  Don't use a USB mouse or don't leave your USB plugged in if you are not using it because that kills your battery really quickly.

I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro (just bought it in December) and the battery lasts ~2.5 hours, which I think is acceptable.
