Dont think there are any undergrad courses that link staright to med and dont have chem as a prereq.

You can do science or biomedical science, which doesnt require comoulsory chem and you can do med post grad from there.

yeah, do chem just to try and pass the pre requisite score for the med degrees. Even with scaling, chem is pretty good.
Unless your certain that you can get 45+ in Bio, do Bio.

Not sure, you will have to look in the VTAC guide. You need atleast one science or maths methods. Something like that....

University of Melbourne biomedicine (source here)

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Units 3 and 4

A study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in ESL, at least 35 in Chemistry and at least 25 in one of Biology, Mathematical Methods (either), Specialist Mathematics or Physics.

Monash University biomedical science (source here)

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English, a study score of at least 25 in chemistry and in one of physics, mathematical methods (either) or specialist mathematics.

So yeah, you definitely need to do chemistry for either of these two Check the VTAC guide for other unis though (not sure which ones offer biomed)

RMIT - Biomedical Science - bachelor of applied science - need chemistry, no particular study score requirement

Deakin - Biomedical Science (PDF brochure) - you'd be able to get into this one without chemistry, they need at least 20 in English and at least 20 in one of chem, biology or physics.

Swinburne - Science (Biomedical Science) - doesn't need chemistry at all, they only ask for at least 20 in English and at least 25 in Methods.

LaTrobe - Biomedical Science - "A minimum grade of 65% in Year 12 Chemistry."

I'm not totally sure on this, but Deakin offers a graduate medicine course and it's said in one of their brochures on their program that they select on the basis of GPA, GAMSAT and interview. It's also helpful if you come from a related/relevant area of study (like biomedical science). No idea if the biomedical science courses at those unis are anything similar to Melbourne or Monash, but in short, it seems like they could all get you into medicine in the end.

It's quite hard because the GAMSAT has second year standard Chemistry and Biology, and VCEish level physics, so without some sort of background in these, you'll have to rely on self-study in such high level stuff. In regards to hard's original question, I definitely recall there being interstate Medicine courses which didn't require Chemistry as a pre-req. Try having a search around I guess.

There aren't any undergrad dent/med courses in vic that don't require chem IIRC. A number of the interstate unis don't require chem, as shinny has said.

I dunno, DYOR. Don't see why you couldn't just do chem and avoid this whole hassle, though. Seriously, if you expect to get 30 raw in spesh you could definitely get 35 for chem.

it's not that i don't think i can get over 35, it's just that i don't want to be doing 5 subjects this year. So i'd presume that chemistry would be my lowest scoring subject out of the subs i'm doing this year, thus it is deserving to let it go. I am willing to move interstate but i just need to find the uni that offers such a course.
