Who doesn't have a tutor?

Are there any VN users out there who don't have tutors?
It seems to me like a lot of users on the forums have a tutor, even if it's just for one subject? I personally don't have one, and in my area there aren't really any tutors. But am I screwed without one compared to other kids out there? Or could I do what others do with tutors?

And for past students who achieved a reasonable Yr 12 result, did you do it without the help of a tutor?

I only ever had one tutor, for chemistry and that was for about 6 sessions. I don't think you really need one, especially with this forum... unfortunately I only started using it late in the year.

You don't NEED tutors, it really depends on the subject and the person involved.

I've never had a tutor, but am going to use two this year for methods and english, g-rents gave me some $$ for it, so may as well use it!

Not sure if it will work for me, but we'll wait and see. I doubt they're really going to push my scores up that much, if anything, but ah well.

I went to one tutoring session in year 10 for a better transition into MM3/4, but I don't think the experience really benefited me, so I haven't had any other tutors.

I never had one. Just asked the teacher when needed, he/she would be glad to help. Anyway tutors are rather expensive and having one doesnt guarantee superb results....

I didn't have one. I went to some lectures, though. Does that count? I think your teachers and fellow classmates should be enough.

I would say there are more people on this site who are tutors than there are people who have tutors.

I'm gettng a tutor for english and maths. The science subjects i think i'll just ask teacher for extra help and VCEnotes. Not sure if science based subjects need tutoring?

I have had heaps of tutors and spent heaps of $$$ from year 10 onwards. Unfortunately, this proved to be a waste of time. My english tutor was the worst, because she was an old lady who was too boring and technical and never gave me an exact idea of what's required in VCE english.

My science(chem) tutor wasn't that good either. He just used to repeat what was written in the book. He never taught me the exact concepts of how things work. Its something i later realised you have to learn by yourself. Its kinda abstract.

My spesh tutor was good though, because the concepts in this type of maths you cant just figure out by yourself. Like you need to understand the approach towards various maths problems.

overall, tutors gave me a false sense of security. I thought they had covered everything, but they hadnt. You need to do the hard yards by yourself as well. Unfortunately, i found this out too late. I got 93 which was dissapointing, considering i spent about some many thousands of dollars and wasted so many hours. :(
