Checkpoints has sample SACs/questions for each area of study. For $20 it will make good pre-SAC and pre-exam revision.

Hmmm
I checked my Semester Planner and for outcome 1 it says
"Test on LSO in context"
...
Any ideas?

We did exactly the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if both our school's purchase SACs from the same company.

That test was something included (from memory):
*Some definition questions
*Characteristics of LSO's
*Environments of LSO's and how each environment impacts on the business (internal, operating, macro)
*Performance indicators
*The economy and the benefits it has on a business
*Relevance of ethical and socially responsible management.

What is the next SAC called? Your SACs might be from the same company.

Doesn't look like it unfortunately. Our second SAC was a case study.

Can costargh or any other past BM students explain to me what to include in my 'perfect' set of notes.

I hear you talk about 'examples', do you mean after every definition or explanation to include an example?

For example the other day I read an article in The Age Business Section regarding downsizing/rightsizing, it described how different sized companies were cutting employees from different levels of employment. (If I can remember correctly, smaller companies cutting out middle management and larger businesses cutting out non-profitable employees. I think? It was a while ago...)

Should I be cutting these out and using them at all?
Which sort of articles should I be keeping?

And any advice in general, my school usually does well in BM, but any advice would be appreciated.

Odette.

Well "perfect" notes should consist of the following (in my opinion, other students feel free to add)
-Glossary of key terms
-Description of all key concepts [Use the Study Design as your guide]
-Examples of companies for different scenarios
-Possibly mind maps/concept maps outlining each area of study; helps link everything together
That's about it I think, and remember what's perfect for someone else, may or may not be perfect for you.

As for the examples, as I mentioned above when we say examples we mean an example of a company that conducted itself in a particular way... Hope that makes sense, if not I can elaborate.

The Age Business Section would be your best resource, so don't throw away that article, just because its "old" it doesn't mean it wont be helpful, try keep upto date with the business world, but don't stress too much if you cant. Just try to work with whatever examples you remember well.

Good Luck :D

thanks. Yeah I've devised my own notes system. Which doesn't work for everybody. Pretty much 5 or so pages (25 or so all up) for each outcome... From as many resources, picking the best content,(tables graphs, key descriptions etc.) for which to study from. Print these for every SAC, then one final copy for the exam, which I'll put into a display folder, I'll then annotate and scribble extra notes onto as I go through past exams, random questions etc.

Definitions is #1 priority, don't want to lose marks there. The ones they asked this year I was thrown back by, I knew what they were I just wasn't expecting it hence I spent (or wasted) some time forming a proper answer.

And understand the concepts first before trying to memorize stuff.

After doing almost everything to the best of my ability for BM all year - the only advice that I have that hasn't already been posted, is to make friends with your teacher and ensure that he/she doesn't screw you over.

My notes are already on this website. Good Luck.
