Must haves for uni?

Hi all!

I was hoping if someone could help me figure out what essential things I need as I commence studying in Uni. Could anyone just reply to this post, what they found useful/important things that helped them heaps in uni?

2010: English - Math Methods - PE - Physics - Business Management - LOTE

LEGIT - Finished senior high school year twice in 2010. :D
Don't ever do VCE without Year 11 and missing one Sem of Year 12. Believe me its quite a pain.

*2011: UoM Commerce (WISHING) but most probably Science :D WOOOO COMMERCE!!

Really... stationary basics are logical.

Best investment is a 4-pen and a notebook with subject dividers.

A pirate costume is a very good investment. Every faculty has a cruise and because none of them have any imagination, a pirate costume always fits the theme.

As for learning...there aren't really any must haves other than stationary to write stuff down/on. Even textbooks can be optional depending on the subject. There'll be a lot more activity in February when uni is kicking off for 1st years, you can see all the tips then

Having a laptop is useful, but I guess pens and paper is all you really need. Also, a bag and a water bottle. You never see a uni student without their water bottle.

If you're in a degree that requires you to write a lot of essays, then a small, lightweight laptop would be preferable, especially if you're renowned for doing those things in the last minute.

do you really need a bottle at umelb? there are drinking fountains all over the place. and what is the university experience without catching at least *some* diseases?

definitely a good knowledge of where toilets/cafés/towels can be had.

I've never seen more than a couple of these. I carry an old mount franklin bottle and i grab a can of something if i'm thirsty (ASIAN LOLLY SHOP!!)

Mount Franklin water bottles ftw... they've started selling 1L bottles now XD
