One of my mates gets to use a computer because he has shit handwriting.

No mental disability, no hand-eye co-ordination impairment, no hand injuries, no religious ceremonies which don't allow him to use pens on that specific day. Just straight up messy handwriting.

He's gotten A+ on all his typed up SACS, and A and Bs on his handwritten SACs.

Fair? Definitely not. But I think that is a rough indication of the impact of handwriting. (I refuse to acknowledge that his typed up pieces may have been better quality).

Also, they don't use notepad as I had thought. Microsoft word, thesaurus, spell-check, paperclip helping dude and all ! :(

Also fancy nice titles!

Not fair, sorry I just have to have a whinge about it!

It's medical with him. He told me.

It's not, I've asked him, I don't know if you're talking about the same guy. There's 3 in this years year 12 that have that access.

From one of my crazy teachers who swears he is a marker:

"They can't mark you down, but when it's 2am, and you're on your 4th cup of coffee and you just yelled at the wife to let you mark in peace, what would you rather see? Chicken scrawl or neat writing?"

Actually the examiners aren't allowed to mark the essays at home. My teacher is an assessor and she told us that all English examiners have to go to an office in Coburg and mark them there under strict conditions and certain times during the day.

you cant get marked down for messy handwriting... but if they cant read any of it... well then theres problems.. but it would have to be absolutely diabolical for that to occur

For security reasons, and they don't want you to rub things out, better to just put a line through.

Is it to do with allergies or something too? or whatever the reason is for school kids.

Possibly, he is a BM and Legal assesor so it may be different. He talks a lot of shit though.

dictate an exam for over an hour? boy would that get frustrating!

I scribe for ppl with disabilities in uni exams which go for like 4 hours, it's not that bad, just like writing the exam yourself except you're saying it out loud first

English is marked at VCAA in Coburg; the rest of the papers can be marked at home.
