^ i knew someone who got their wisdom teeth out and they went under general. as in their pretty much passed out and work up and it was gone.

a friend of mine's two brothers had them both removed, they both were vomiting blood throughout and told how it was the worst/most painful experiences of their life. so scared, i have to get mine out soon (hopefully in over a year).

goodluck LOL

I guess I will have to remove my wisdom tooth with my own bare hands...

haha. that may be more painful... maybe....

Well, if the wisdom tooth is ingrown...  I really don't wanna think about it.

If the Tom Hanks in Castaway can remove his tooth with ice skates, then I can...

Just remember though, if you start feeling some pain at the back of all your teeth, it's probably a very good time to see a dentist and get an x-ray.

I think I was lucky -

At the moment I've only gotten one of my wisdom teeth out - the operation/appointment took 20 or so minutes at the local dentist clinic. I was awake but numb and I could hear the crack when my dentist pushed it out :P

I did feel a bit faint for 15 minutes after for about 5 minutes but apart from that I was fine. Even after the numbing wore off all that was annoying me was that feeling you get when you lose a tooth, hard to explain but there was no pain.

The only good thing that I read about getting wisdom teeth out (besides it being a pain in later life) is that there is the least complications when you get it done when you're younger. So I guess that's a pro, and I'm glad mine won't affect my VCE if I'm going to get mine out next year :P

That's disgusting!

So they are taken out 'usually' between 17 - 25 years of age.

The younger the better they say.  When you're young, they say the healing process is easier and quickier.

When I got mine out, either the anaesthetic was just water or she just didn't know how to inject it, but I got 4 shots and it did next to nothing and I could feel almost everything.

Go general anaesthetic if you can...
