Haha what!
I never said to anyone what my score was yet ><

I did NOT get 100% so please take your congratulations back.

The umat is completely and utterly the most fucking ridiculous test ever, people all over have been getting the most random scores including stonecold. There is no correlation between this and doing medicine nor in what apprently you will get as an ENTER (monash said that it is a good predictor of your ATAR - bull).
I got a similar score to you stonecold, I was shattered, and today I have felt no need to try that much in my ATAR or study now considering that I wont get into my dream course anymore (UNSW), nor will i be getting an interview for monash unless i get a equity scholarship of some sorts, mehh

But i will try and push on through this, as i'm going to try again next year, i guess i am risking it, but i personally think its worth it.

Congrats to anyone who did well and/or was satisifed with their results, even remotely satisified.

Realise that the UMAT is not worth being upset about for longer then a day, because it's just a stupid, luck-based test that means nothing about one's intelligence.
We can all get into your wanted course eventually, it may just take longer.

Goodluck to us all, and well done to those who still manage to get in first time!

Oh, and also, fucking MedEntry.  I got like 90+ percentile 3 or 4 times in their S2 prac exams.  Goes to show how poor an indication those questions are of the real UMAT.  I guessed literally everything in S2.  Had no idea of the words, and the passages were massive and too me ambiguous.

One piece of advice I would give is to just practice S3 and S1, it is the only sections you can improve on.

Agreed.

I really don't recommend MedEntry. Waste of money for nothing. All it does is either i) causes you anxiety when your percentiles are too low, or ii) creates a false sense of confidence when your percentiles are high.

I think practicing on some Mensa questions for section three would probably be best. That is the only section that I think you can actually improve on (by learning some techniques).

Now I now why ACER doesn't recommend prep courses.

If I had gone in and only done the 2 exams that they had supplied, I think I would have done much better.

Yeah, I seriously would have done better if I had just done mensa questions.   Very misleading is Medentry.

Did you do okay fady?  Probably better than me...

Also, does anyone know what 10weid got?  He is a genius!

also dw vexx, we will show them someday!

UMAT has ruined a lot of intelligent peoples days who really deserved better.

I remember seeing some people on the medentry forum who were 15, you're competing against that.

We all could of done better if we had more time or tried harder (most of us anyway) but no use dwelling on it, if we cant change it.

If we really wanted to you could take a gap year and absolutely own the umat but im not a fan of that idea for myself.

It's very hard to quantify who would be a good doctor with just a test (especially one of this nature i still think it is a better predictor than just enter alone though but they could do so much better)

Its such a silly thing that a highstakes test like this can be boiled down to luck, how you were feeling on the day and so many other factors like this

Anyway, personally im happy we got them sooner rather than later.
We have more time to get over it and move on with the business of the VCE, for some it might even provide motivation (i know it did for me)

sorry about that misunderstanding.

Well good luck to everyone in their endevaours! I'm just going to try for pharmacy for biomed. Anything medical that is a rural urgency is fine for me, I think my priority is with aiding rural areas, and I just thought medicine was more urgent than other occupations.

wisest thing anyone has ever said.
this is ..... better than like ..mendel/lincon/newton/einstien/edison.

srsly
who ever thinks that enter = ~ umat .. is COMPLETELY mislead.
my friend got 0-20 in his first umat attempt .. and enter of 99.75
personally . i got 26th percentile or something ... ( and yes i will brag about my sec 2 100th percentile score)
however .. even with 26th percentile .. im probz gona get enter of 90-95

also
if you feel sick on the day .. and do SHIT .. it dosnt mean ur gonna be a bad doctor.
my cousin got 82 percentile last year ... came back this year ( he had chest infection on the day) and couldnt concentrate and got a 38th percentile or something.

honestly guys
dont think that " if you do bad at the umat , ur life is over"

however , in saying this ..
for anyone who got 85+ percentile
you deserve a congratulations . because its definitely not easy
and im jealous of you to the max !

Yeah of course, not to say those who got ultra high scores definetly did not deserve it. They absolutely did. Good work those high scorers!

It's sad to see that so many are disappointed with how they performed but just be aware that it's not all over. I've experienced first hand that perseverance is really the key to getting into Medicine. I only got my place after bugging the Monash admin for days for an irregular offer. Same for my friend. Another friend did the same who even had a ~70 percentile UMAT and ended up getting in (she's admittedly from a rural background though so consideration is given there). My feeling is that Monash just wants to quickly fill the places remaining during the 2nd round of offers to avoid having to go down to 5th round offers or whatever as many universities end up having to do. Use this to your advantage and show them how much you want to get in after the 1st round offers get given out. The same goes for other universities. I had heard of the incredible power of nagging to get into Med, hence why I tried my luck and to my surprise, succeeded.

And what you guys have been saying is right; the selection process is ridiculous. The UMAT in particular is close to useless in judging ability. ENTER correlates well with written exam performance, and interview with clinical exam performance from my experience, but it doesn't mean you need to absolutely gun either to be able to pass the exams or ultimately be a good doctor. Just bear with the bureaucracy of this selection process, persevere through VCE and hopefully gun your ATAR and let's see if VN can get any more miracles this year.

@Stonecold
Nope.
53 raw overall.
Somehow I managed to get a 37 for section 2.

Oh well. C'est la vie.

I'm actually happy. I just realised how difficult it was going to be to study at monash, or interstate. I was so caught up in the dream of studying medicine that I did not consider the practicality of doing so. I don't think I would have been able to live by myself, and support myself financially.

Now all I need is a 99.9 ATAR for a guaranteed place in grad med at melbourne. LOL. :P

Melbourne isnt the only uni to offer grad med(got monash too), so you have a better chance than trying to just get into the one single uni (monash) undergrad

I am absolutely devastated that I will not be getting an interview at Monash. Reason being, I do not even get the slightest chance to express myself to them, I don't get to talk about the life experiences that have influenced my career choice, I don't get to talk about my success's outside of school and I get no chance to communicate to them who I am.

Let's not get to down though, we've known from the start Medicine/pharmacy etc is incredibly competitive and that we will almost certainly have to compromise what would be ideal (ie the shortest path) in order to achieve our dreams.

Yes, we might have to add a year or two or three to our studies, but think of the end result.

If you really want to be a doctor/pharmacist/Physio etc, you'll find it easy to justify.
