LOTE (Italian) for me, because no one I know well is doing it and its hard to find people who can help me with it, its also insanely hard, probs too hard for me. So i just doze off in class, spesh is easier, there are thousands of people who can help you, at scotch 60 people do it, 5 do Italian :xD

I would say definitely LOTEs! Pish at Specialist Maths being voted the hardest so far. Spesh is much more systematic.

LOTE's are quite systematic. Talking about familiar topics, writing according to a formula, reading and listening comprehension. They probably have a similar level of systemisation as maths [at VCE level anyway], having to pit your knowledge and skills against unfamiliar questions.

I can't really judge being in year 11 but...English seems to be the hardest to get a decent score in for the many mentioned reasons...Bleh I hate how VCE does English...I mean they could at least have a few variations of English class so competition won't be to bad and scoring would be a little more fair...
Hmm...next year already. Well better set my goals and all...(raw)

Err yeah, forgot about that lol...Still don't most people choose English mainly because Lit seems like to much work lol, guess its the Speesh of English, just not as popular.

You do realise less people doing a subject does NOT mean scoring will be "more fair" in that it just means less people will get the higher scores.

I also wonder if you realise the amount of people doing English who really do not give a shit about their studies making it relatively easier to get a score 30+.

At our school, it doesn't offer English Language and won't let people do Literature without doing English (unless of course your parents go to war against our VCE co-ordinator over it), so all students in year 12 (-VCAL kids) are doing English, 180 or so

On that note, Music seems to be one of those subjects where actual talent doesn't always necessarily equate to success - the Australian Young Performer of 2008 only got 40 for it.
You can get full marks in your performance exam but only get a 40 if you can't do the analysis/aural stuff on the written exam. I guess that's why.

I think History Revolutions has to be up there as one of the hardest subjects. Especially if you're doing the French Revolution, which has an incredible amount of information. There's two Revolutions you have to do, and no mid-years. Also, apparently the exams are very specific, so you may have to write an essay on some tiny part of the Revolution which you might accidentally skip over...

OMG THAT. :S

Technically speaking, the "hardest" subjects to do "well" in are those with very small cohorts (and I mean SMALL) whilst simultaneously having little/no markup.  I'm talking about stuff like Agricultural and Horticultural Studies, Dance, smaller LOTEs, etc.
And that. :)

The histories definitely have to be up there, and I personally find that Literature should be too.

I always wanted to learn French Revolution and Renaissance Italy. I think I spent many hours on youtube just watching about the Renaissance Italy. Absolutely brilliant! Too bad my "schools" didn't offer either of those.

On Topic: Hardest Subject for me

Literature/English, cause its something thats progressive, whereas methods, chem etc..can be learnt in a short period of time.
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle
