Are there past papers for MCB (BIOM20001)? If so, how should we go about accessing them? Obviously I'm not going to start doing them now since we haven't finished the course yet, but I just want to have them ready.

Thanks in advance

They put maybe a few up on LMS last year, the most recent was 2012 I believe.

Or just search in the past exam repo on unimelb library

You thought that was bad? Wait for the final.

Sorry, that wasn't very encouraging, but it's true. If the first PHYS midsem was 3/10 in difficulty, the second was 5/10 and the final was 8/10.

For a submajor, on the unimelb site it says 'A sequence of study across two year levels (at least one-quarter of the first year workload and one-quarter of the second year workload).'
Does this mean that the quarter workload of second year, must be second year subjects? Or can they be first year subjects, given you don't have over 10 subjects at first year level for a Bsci.
Thanks.

on the unimelb site

Link?
I didn't think you could officially sub major at all in BSci.

I believe sub-majors are used by the education faculty to determine what areas of teaching you can study in your Masters.

Thanks.

I think it means second year subjects when it says "second year workload."

Haha nah in all honesty... It wasn't actually that difficult, but I think the style of questions really surprised everyone (myself included).

I don't think anyone was expecting 1 question stem to be used for 19 questions...

And plus, the whole test (barring 2 questions) had options from like A-Z most of the time, which is in stark contrast to the past mid-sems that were posted up. They usually had a half-half split of A-Z questions and A-D (standard multiple choice questions).

Also, Charles had stated that all the questions in the mid-sem were from the 2014 Semester 2 exam...

Anyways, glad that's over. Hopefully everyone did well.

I disagree here. I thought the 2nd mid sem was a lot harder than both the first MST and the final exam (did phys last year in sem 2)

Charles definitely likes to make really long extended questions. It's definitely a lot more application based than rote-memory based. Our 2nd mid sem was similar to this. If you got the first part wrong, you were pretty much screwed for the majority of the remaining questions... well that's how it was for me anyway :(
