Hey everyone is there any actual deadline for registering for semester 2 subjects?

Cheers

Also I still haven't paid that 250 dollar fee (lol) so does this mean I cannot see my results? I can see WAM changes so I can calculate how much I get anyway :P.

Hello,

I am taking pharmacology subject this semester and want to know would there be many chemistry component there. I have never done chemistry subject in the university. So I have not studied Chemistry for more than 3 years. Would it be alright? How would you recommend me to tackle this subject. Thank you for your time and consideration in advance :).

Now that my exams are done and dusted, I've had a few days off and I've finally written my subject reviews, I have to say that the semester just completed has to be my best semester ever. I really enjoyed all of my subjects and for the first time found my contact hours and workload manageable. My marks will probably fall but I think I may finally have found the balance I've been craving. I don't even feel like I need a break, and part of me is really looking forward to next semester. :D

Also, I just wanted to confirm with former BIOM30001 students how the timetabling for the practical works - the sessions on the master timetable have specific dates associated with them, but do we actually get those dates or do the co-ordinators basically make up their own timetable after we do the timetabling on my.unimelb? Thanks.

Would anyone happen to have lecture slides for Intro Micro? (my newfound breadth subject ^_^)
If you do, PM me!

I can provide slides for CHEM10003 if anyone's interested (although I think most people take it in sem1)

I took the subject back in 2014, so I'm not sure if it has changed since then. However when I took music and health it was a really relaxed subject. We didn't have music psychology quizzes or anything. Instead we just had some sort of weekly component thing. For me we just had to write a music blog for the first few weeks, then contribute to some forum on the LMS for the next few, and in the last weeks we had to contribute to some class music project by writing song lyrics down on the LMS or something.

The bulk of the assessment is contained in two big essays worth 40% and 50% though, so if you're not so confident in writing then it's probably better to take something else. I also heard the essays were marked on a bell curve, but I'm not sure how true that is since it's just something I heard from my friend, but the lecturers never mentioned it. Overall though I would recommend taking this for a pretty straightforward and easy breadth if you're confident in your writing skills  :)

Dent/Med/Optom are based on GPA and GAMSAT. Both dentistry and medicine are extremely competitive, you would need a particularly strong GAMSAT and a decent GPA to get in. Optometry is easier to get in I'm not sure what GPA/GAMSAT you need though. The minimums for each of these is a 6.0 GPA and a 50 GAMSAT in each section but lol you would need much higher than this to be considered an interview.

For physiotherapy is just WAM, I read through the handbook or whatever and the minimum is 70. MINIMUM.

I don't really understand how WAM works. I've only had one of my results released and my WAM is higher than that score I got. So... what's going on?

So what happens is when subjects are put into your WAM they may not actually show up as an official score. So for you at the moment there are two subjects scores that have been entered into your WAM, one that you can see officially and the other you can't yet.

You can find out the score to the second subject.

Ohh, I see. Thanks for the clarification Snorlax and Rod. It's kind of annoying how the WAMs change but you can't see your scores :/

I need some advice.
I want to do BLAW20002 which has no prerequisites or corequisites but the recommended background knowledge is "100 points of undergraduate study" I emailed the coordinator and she said that she wouldn't recommend me enrolling since i've only finshed 1 semester and to do it next year.
Should I just enrol in it anyway? or would this be a bad idea? I don't see how doing an extra semester would make me more prepared to take on this subject since none of my other subjects are law/commerce based.
It's completely up to you tbh if you feel you're ready to take on that subject then go for it, that recommendation is just saying that the workload is really of a second year subject and you might stress yourself out if you decide to tackle it in your first year. Depends of the type of person/student you are.
