Ahah. So glad it's over! Donnellys/ biological chem sections were the easiest IMO. Wtf in relation to inorganic chemistry (as expected).

Yeah wow. See I thought I had that exam in the bag, and I walked out of it not actually managing to attempt a sixth of it (ran out of time and didn't even get to do inorganic chem).

It sucks, I knew how to do everything except Bio Chem and I probably got most of the marks in Organic, Thermo (assuming consequentials are given, made a few mistakes with the volume calculations but still got the main idea with the whole volume tricks), and Coordination.

I did pretty crap in Biological and probably only got half the marks, and I didn't attempt Inorganic whatsoever (30 marks out of 180 gone right there).

 I did the sections I felt most confident with first then when it came to the others I realised how screwed I was. Then later I realised that I had been going too slow and wouldn't finish everything.

Coordination and organic were mostly fine. Biological I found harder/different to the tutes and the 2012 exam so not feeling confident. Thermo blanked in the panic of things and forgot how to do the calculations. Inorganic only had time to attempt about half of it and I guessed most of that.

Haha the volume calculations was from 1mol of water vapour (a gas, with PV=NRT or V=NRT/P=61L) to 1mol of water as a liquid (we know 1g of water = 1ml of water so 18g of water (1 mol of water) = 18mL)

and i fucked up the calculations because there were 2 mols of water and simply forgot to account for that

How do exams get standardised because I still think I did well on all the other sections?

OMG tfw your breadth subject's exam is harder than Accelerated Maths

I think I wanna dig a hole and bury myself in it until next semester.

what is the point of making 20% of the exam even harder and more obscure than the rest (which were already pretty bad) and saying it's for students wanting a H1? I was struggling as it was, then I hit that section and everything went to hell. I EVEN STUDIED PROPERLY FOR THIS AND EVERYTHING, I WAS ON 85% AVERAGE AS WELL FML

I was going over GPA calculations, and it says that if you're still completing your final 'year' when applying for med, only the semester 1 results of that year will be used as a provisional GPA alongside your previous 2 'years' of study. So our final semester won't be counted.

Does that mean that we'd only get offers based on that provisional GPA? But once we do get our semester 2 results, it's up to the uni to decide whether or not they want to stand by that offer?

If we don't get an offer using the provisional GPA, once our final semester's results are released, would there be a second round of offers?

and yeah I'm mainly asking these questions in relation to how UoM's med school does things.

Yes and yes (they'll stand by it as long as you don't fail or drop under the hurdle)

Hey, I'm doing BCOM first year second semester, and just thought I'd ask if anyone knows whether Introductory Macroeconomics, Introductory Financial Accounting, and Accounting Processes and Analysis follow the same lecture/tutorial structure as semester 1 subjects like microeconomics. i.e. Tutorials in Week 2 cover Lecture material from Week 1 and tutorials in Week 7 cover lecture material from week 6 etc.
