Nope, they don't take into account chancellors so in reality the number of CSP offers is a bit lower. I'm not too sure how many chancellors there are though, there could be 20-30 for all we know.

20-30 sounds about right. There were about that many when I met the first group of them a couple of years ago, and I imagine it stays stable. I suppose over the course of 3 years some would decide to go somewhere other than medicine though. It'll only get worse, as Monash transitions to their silly biomed-only postgrad course and the subsequent flow on effect is felt.

Just to clarify, the incoming system for Monash postgrad MBBS is 50/75 places are designated for biomed people without the need for gamsat, while the remaining 25 places are for biomed/science/etc. + gamsat.

When applying for post graduate medicine, what is the application?

Is it done through something similar to VTAC? or do you just apply seperately?

Shenz0r just mentioned
Chances are most people don't bother applying for FFP in the first place, when they could potentially get CSPs/BMPs at other unis
, so I was wondering if you had to apply for CSP/BMP/FFP seperately for each university.

You apply for GEMSAS and can preference 6 unis. For each uni you can pick to accept CSP/BMP/FFP in whatever order of preference you want. If you select CSP as first preference and BMP as second preference but not FFP then for each uni they will look at your scores and see if you meet the cut offs. If you don't meet it for CSP for pref 1 then they consider BMP for pref 1. If you don't meet that either then they consider CSP for pref 2 etc.

USyd is done outside of GEMSAS (I think you directly apply to USyd) and UQ is outside of the GEMSAS consortium but I think you still apply to UQ through GEMSAS.

So just double checking, if this is my application

1. A: CPS/BMP/FFP
2. B: CPS/BMP
3. C: CPS/BMP/FFP
4. D: CPS/BMP
5. E: CPS/BMP
5. F: CPS/BMP

they first check Uni A's CSP, then Uni A's BMP, then Uni A's FFP, before they check Uni B's CPS to see if I got in right?
In that case, should someone put FFP as first preference? Since this will increase their chance of getting (let's presume that this crazy person doesn't care about the $100k fees because he won the lottery)

Yeah you're right.

You should put CSP first, then BMP, then FFP (unless you really like rural work). CSP is harder to get than FFP but if you get passed down from CSP you might still get FFP so it doesn't really make sense to pref FFP first. If you pref FFP first and you aren't accepted for FFP then chances are you won't get CSP at this uni either since CSP is harder to get. Thus you will be passed down to your next preference uni.

Edit: Mean first part is right, not second.

No, I dont think it works like that.
I remember people when they were looking to do Monash undergrad MBBS they thought that applying for BMP would place them at advantage but in the end it had no effect.

Has anyone volunteered for O week / Open Day stuff?

Last time I checked it said that only previous O week hosts could apply. How does one become a host to begin with then? Is it the same for Open Day? I just checked the UMSU website (http://umsu.unimelb.edu.au/jump-in/volunteer/) but the link for Open Day wasn't working.

When's the next big opportunity for medicine places to open up/medicine entries to be accepted? Or this a once-a-year thing?

It's only once a year, so applications are due in May of each year.
The GAMSAT, however, can be taken twice - GAMSAT Au is in March, GAMSAT UK (can be taken here and for use in Au) is in Sept.

Good luck to anyone anticipating an interview offer tomorrow <3

Just to clarify further, UoM Bachelor of Science, whilst being 75% identical to UoM Bachelor of Biomedicine, is not considered an adequate undergraduate degree to apply to Monash Postgrad MBBS.

Sounds legit.

Our year is 38 chancellors I heard. It's definitely more in the 30-40 range.

It's closed bro.... Just check back again like a few months before the respective event - e.g. for O-week check back in Jan/Feb and so on.

How bull!@#$. Just another marketing ploy to get more kiddos to Monash :(

I guess that's one thing could drive off the cut offs?
