tl;dr warning

Do we, as a tertiary education institution, display colder behaviour than other universities?

I didn't think so, but in the past few months I've been a participant in dozens of research projects. (The reimbursement is often surprisingly decent; my next study is in an MRI and is $100 for 2.5 hours.) My first project with Victoria University was last month. Wow. Most researchers' English is a bit difficult to understand, but they are so nice. Between 23rd - 30th of this month I'm living in the 'Altitude Hotel' where they test my melatonin levels against the sleeping patterns of either a control or a night shift worker, dependent on my allocation. The VU researchers have been in constant contact with reassuring updates, working around my schedule, and wishing me a Merry Christmas followed by a Happy New Year rofl. As well, when I first arrived at the Footscray Park campus I was 20 minutes late because I was lost (UoM students =/= practical skills) and was incredibly bitchy because I blamed everyone else for the fact I forgot to use Google Maps (basically made us look pretentious and egocentric, sry). All the people I encountered who helped me were patient and kind. One woman thought I was there for the Change of Preference expo mom'd all over me; she gave me cuddles in her giant, woolly sweater and made soothing, clucking noises because I was sweaty and angry, haahhhaa.

I've also completed around 6 studies at Swinburne, and every single researcher there was also very supportive and sweet.

While all the studies I've done at UoM have had civil researchers, some of them have been quite dismissive. Quite a few end their studies before taking their advertisements down and don't bother to tersely inform me until the second email. One gave me the introductory questionnaire, forgot to respond for 2 months, showed me the equipment, stated she'd call after directly after New Year's, and after calling them twice this month I finally learnt they're prolonging the study until everyone has returned from holiday. Others have been so absorbed in their study they've forgotten to give me clear instructions/that I'm in the room.

The above applies to Monash as well. As the sum of parts, do we have poorer social skills than other universities? I've never entertained that stupid rumour because I've never seen evidence to substantiate it. But now I wonder if I haven't noticed because I'm the evidence which substantiates it.

I'm thinking of the following:

Sem 1:
IFA2
Intro Micro
Finance 1
BLaw

Sem 2:
Intro Macro
OB
(another breadth - any suggestions??)
QM1

How does the above sound in terms of workload? Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Wheres APA (ACCT10003)? I'm aware you've done uni extension accounting, but there also a third first-year accounting subject that forms part of the major sequence

So I went into the Co-op today to buy some Sem 1 textbooks, and all they had was the entire set of my Sem 2 textbooks.
After purchasing the Sem 2 books anyway, the lady at the counter gave me a wistful stare and said "it's so depressing, all that money's just gone..." and patted me on the back and then I tripped on a banana peel crossing the street (!), dropped the Co-op bag which split open on the crossing and watched as my hopes, dreams and financial security literally fell out of my grasp. :')
(P.S. the Animal Physiology book is thoroughly fascinating; if you end up not doing Comp Animal Physio, Ballerina, you should totally borrow it in first semester and read a bit of it.)

@charmanderp, so disappointed not to see you in cog/bio psych, but wise choice going for that class regardless, it has good reviews.
It was a hard decision to make!
