Hey guys, I'm after some advice for a UROP application.
There's no denying that the circumstances in my life (two immediate family members have died from cancer, I looked after them both) were one of a few driving factors behind my desire to go back to uni and study science/biomed engineering/research. It is not, however, the ONLY reason.
I'm not sure whether it would be wise to put this 'reason' on the application (they ask for motivations, reasons for wanting to do research etc). I don't want it to sound like I'm trying to score sympathy points or something. Or maybe it could be seen as 'not a lasting motivating factor'.
It's not the only reason so I have a few others I can list but I'm just not sure if it would hinder (or help???) my application by mentioning that particular fact.
Any thoughts from outsiders?
