IKR...
Med for Melb was 6.7 GPA and 67 gamsat average....
I don't know if average is a good measure though because there are some freaks who get 75+ and 80s for the gamsat :/

There's no direct correlation. You can read about how they're calculated in the health sciences subforum but there are lots of different possible permutations. You could get bad marks in first year and then all H1s after that. You could get alternating H1s and H2As across your degree. You could get mostly H2As but H1s in final year.

If this trend continues then soon Deakin will have that average and to get into Melbourne you just need to be a freak at life.

At times like this I wish I was born sooner lol

If I was born a couple of years earlier...

Edit: Deakin is rising to pretty nasty levels too.

"What was the average GAMSAT score and the average GPA to obtain a place in the course for 2014?
The average GAMSAT score was 63.27 The average GPA was 6.75. "

On a positive note, at least UQ's cut-offs dropped dramatically since they had more spots (would've just managed to clinch a CSP argh).

It seems as if every other medical school just experiences more and more competition by the year. People were already talking about how high the average jumped last year...

Deakin's cut off scores are still fairly high. Yeh 67 for CSP at UQ WTF!!! The drop was coz of something about 150 spots just for next year or something yeh?

I just hope that they don't try to split up the competition by reducing the number of CSP places/increasing the number of full fee paying places.

Yeah I think UQ doubled their places. Regret not applying for UQ. Wouldn't have got CSP but maybe a BMP.

fk :( Sad, like will it be back to normal next year? By normal I mean like UQ CSP like 71 or whatever? LOL

I just hope that they don't try to split up the competition by reducing the number of CSP places/increasing the number of full fee paying places.
that would be really disappointing. Are you looking to do post grad charmanderp?!!

It probably won't reach 71 for a few years, unless they decide to cut down on the number of places which woild seem counter-productive really

I heard that the 150 extra CSP spots was only for this year and was being removed? (please correct me if I'm wrong because I may have to put UQ as first pref LOOOL)
