"88.00/50" in My Grades. hopefully that means 88/100 or 44/50 because that would give me my highest scoring subject to date  8)

On My Grades last year it just said overall 87 or something but at the time they did mention that it wasn't finalised yet.

xD It's good cause the score they had on the LMS was the same as that on the study plan.

Hi LeviLamp,

I read your review about German 1 and I found it very helpful but it scared me and now I am not sure if I should take German 1 because I need to get a good mark but I am really interested in learning German.

I am thinking about pre-studying for German 1 over the summer holidays, just to get a feel for it and get a head start if I decide to take it.

What kind of pre-study do you think would be most useful? Should I just try to learn as much vocabulary as I can? Should I read, write, etc.? What will be most useful?

If you have the time (may be after you are done with the exams), it would be great if you could recommend some resources, i.e. books, websites, etc. that you found useful.

German 1 and 2 aren't too bad, in retrospect, and I don't think pre-study is super-necessary but you will need to learn all the textbook and Quizlet vocabulary! Don't neglect learning all the words and you should be fine :) I would recommend buying the textbook if you're sure you're taking the subject - it's all in German but you can learn the vocab from it if you want, which is a good start. It costs something like 25 dollars, I think? The grammatical concepts are fairly straightforward. Also make sure to study the culture handouts they give you in the subject - everyone ignored them and they came up on the final and MST. German 3 and 4 are quite hard to do well in by comparison and it's very easy to ruin assessments even if you know how to do everything (though vocab load is lighter), but you should get a basic level of overall understanding by taking the four subjects.

Thank you very much. I will buy the textbook then since it is only $25.

Unfortunately I will not be able to take German 3 and 4 since I already did intro microeconomics and finance 1 only to find out that I am not interested in commerce at all.
I think German 1 and 2 will hopefully allow me to gain a basic understanding so I can continue learning if I decide to go to a German speaking country.

You need a level 2 or 3 breadth though; you can't just do intro micro, finance 1 and German 1/2 as breadth.

If you're only going to be able to do German 1 (which looks the case), I would encourage you to either enrol in a concurrent diploma of languages or do something else as breadth :/
