the interview is quite important as there are cases where people with lowers combos got csp spots while others with quite higher combos got bonded spots. Also I agree with Shenz0r on how important your mood can effect your score making taking the test more then once beneficial. I found each time I took the test it made me for more confident for the next attempt since I knew what to expect.

I was wondering a similar query for my friend in first year who sat the GAMSAT UK and managed a 63 weighted (64 standard).

You can't use GAMSAT scores from first year uni lol

Wait, what??

Our results got loaded just a couple of hours after our defense!  Idk how official they are yet though because we haven't been emailed like we are meant to, so I won't prematurely settle on any grades.

If I do honours at a different uni (or institute affiliated with a different uni) what happens to my transcript? Instead of BBiomed at unimelb does it become BBiomed at unimelb (honours at X) or just BBiomed at X? If the latter, dafuq happens if the new uni doesn't have a biomed degree? Does it just become New degree X (honours)?

You'll have two academic transcripts with different universities. Describing that to employers etc could get a bit messy, but I think officially you'd have something like BBiomed (Melb) BSc (Hons, University of Somewhere Else). It's definitely possible to move universities for honours - a friend of mine did undergrad at Murdoch, honours at Melbourne and masters at La Trobe...
BSc (Pure Mathematics) @ UWA, '04-'09
Postgraduate Diploma in Science (Mathematics and Statistics) @ UniMelb, '14
Master of Science (Statistics and Stochastic Processes) @ UniMelb, '15-'16

I've been offered a place for a cool project outside of Melb uni but have also been offered places in WEHI...the thing is WEHI is an automatic $5k scholarship if you get in while the other place has no scholarships from what I can see. All of the projects are pretty cool IMO but this project outside of WEHI just opened up and my supervisor got promoted to the head of the place. It's more clinical in nature. WEHI on the other hand, $$$ and the projects are less clinical but still cool. They are nice and straightforward and the supervisors seem to know what they are doing. The non-WEHI one is apparently promising and has received funding from the Vic cancer council (or some cancer organization) cos of it. All of the WEHI projects were also said to be promising tho (i.e. everyone was trying to up-sell themselves). I only slightly want to do this non-WEHI project more than the others but $5k is a lot of cash especially if I have to quit working. So the question is...wot do?

Are you more interested in a clinical place?  If so, choose what you're most interested in rather than money - you're going to be next to dead by the end of it, it's not gonna be worth 5k if you're not enjoying it trust me.
I would consider which one has more of a student/group environment because that factored in for me - wouldn't have wanted to spend a year in a place with only 1-2 Honours students.  Many departments at UoM and WEHI have good student associations for their department, though.

You will have to quit working, though.

Anyway, tell us where the 'non-WEHI' one is, or at least me, because you could still be eligible for an FETH scholarship, which is also 5k and just through MDHS.  Usually you would need an average around 85+.

It's the olivia newton john cancer research institute. My 3rd year average is 88 but my first year marks suk like hell and drag my GPA down pretty badly. And yeah, how are the student associations? I've heard about them but haven't given them much thought. Do they do a lot of social stuff? Pretty sure I will be the only honours student there lol.

I am only slightly more interested in the ONJCRI one because it is more clinical but I'd probably prefer decent student environment over that.

[It would depend on the supervisor and institution] but first year grades shouldn't matter that much. My first year grades are much lower then my later grades (although by no means bad,) and the only comment was that I went better then my supervisor in first year maths (lol.)

I'd definitely check if they'd be any other Honours (or even PhD students.) If it's mostly RAs/postdocs the environment would be very different to say a university lab with a decent number of postdocs, PhDs etc (this is not necessarily a bad thing - my UROP was in a company and I was the youngest person there by a decade or so.)

Most UoM/WEHI departments will take on a dozen or so Honours students each year, and most seem to have a fairly active student association.

Edit: Apparently, WEHI is quite well run - run more like a company. Your buffers/media are made for you, there's a proper setup for things like flow cytometery, etc (this is second hand information.) Also, you get free morning and afternoon tea (seriously considered doing my Honours at WEHI just for this.)

Anyway, tell us where the 'non-WEHI' one is, or at least me, because you could still be eligible for an FETH scholarship, which is also 5k and just through MDHS.  Usually you would need an average around 85+.

What is a FETH scholarship?
