After sitting GENE20001 MST 2, now I really get why so many people said this subject was easy.
the third one (population genetics) was the easiest test i have ever done...

If that's the pace you need to work at to understand the content, then isn't it far better to spend that time than to rush through it at the real lecture?

Yeah I kinda think that because I find I learn the content much better when I watch it at my own pace, but I'm beginning to think that I don't have the time to keep doing this so I'll have to start rushing through them to catch up.

you could try downloading the lecture so that you dont have to continue buffering it in your browser, if you're not doing that already.

This isn't an issue for me, my internet usually loads the video faster than it streams.

What subject? If it's QM1 then I feel the same way, however I just end up going to the lectures.

Nah AM1.

Same concept really. Some maths topics just take a bit of time to get your head around, especially when they introduce something completely foreign, then give you an "intuition behind why it works". I often have to rewind it before I fully understand.

Anything to do with genomics is seriously just an invitation for me to start my 60 mins of thoughtless zone-out time. Must...fight...urge...to...sleep...

After sitting GENE20001 MST 2, now I really get why so many people said this subject was easy.

If you don't get 100 in GENE20001 then you should consider it as a fail grade! Dishonour on your family.

Even the exam has identical questions to past papers.

Nah. It's significantly easier to get 100 in GENE20001/2 than other subjects though.

I often found myself doing the same thing in AM1 last year, having watched almost all lectures online. Paul was great at explaining the more conceptual stuff, even if it wasn't relevant to the course.  :P

Bit of a random question, but i'm looking to do physiotherapy. Does anyone know which universities offer a graduate pathway into physiology?

For example, what universities can I apply to after I finish my BSc?

It's really complicated because some of the universities offer masters of physiotherapy which I think means that you need to have done a bachelor of physiotherapy (which i presume is undergraduate therefore I can't do it).

EEEEEUUUGH, why do they make it so complicated!!

bioinformatics is causing me the most stress. 70% exam with all short answer questions.. why

IMO the biggest step up in third year biochemistry was in the assessment. To go well in a short/long answer only exam you really need to know your stuff.
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

There are many postgraduate physiotherapy schools around Australia.
In Victoria, you would be looking at the Doctor of Physiotherapy at Melbourne University and the Masters of Physiotherapy at La Trobe.
You need an anatomy and physiology subject at 2nd year to be eligible for Melbourne. For La Trobe, the same would be needed, but a Biomechanics subject would be required on top of that (can't complete that subject at Melbourne as they don't offer it. Doing a single subject at La Trobe to satisfy that prerequisite might be an option).
There is a guaranteed entry pathway for Melbourne University - 94+ ATAR and a 75+ WAM would get you a full fee place. CSP places would be based on interview and the WAM (a competitive grade would be at least 70+).

Due to the limited options I have in Victoria, I've also looked at other interstate options.
University of Sydney, Macquarie University in NSW
UQ in Brisbane, or Griffith (but they have an interview and many other annoying pre-requisites that would be more easily satisfied in an Exercise Science degree). Also Bond University, but they have an interview and are quite expensive, as you can imagine for a private uni.
Lastly, there is Curtin in Perth.

There you go, they are all Masters level degrees, that don't require a Bachelor degree in physio. They are designed for people like us who have completed an undergraduate science degree.

All the best with your applications. :)

Where is the Eastern Precinct Student Centre? I saw posters right outside the ERC library saying you could drop in to ask questions about exchange but I have no idea where that is

The Eastern Building is Building 138, located outside the Science Library. It looks after Science, Engineering, MDHS, IT, Vet & Agriculture students, as well as Environments students. Romano's coffee shop is right outside, so go through the huge glass automatic doors and you will see it! It's opposite Frank Tate Building, next to Doug McDonnell. I think there are two hours mid morning each day where advisors can chat and answer any questions you have.

Major reason it's causing the least headaches is because pharm is an absolute dog of a subject.

Btw, have you been going to the lectures? It sounds like john silke's been drawing stuff on the whiteboard or something, I dont know if Ive missed anything important.

why do future job prospects have to look so bleak in nearly every industry....sigh....

I keep hearing that its so tough these days, but surely it can't be that bad?
