Sorry for replying to this thread again (I need to get some friends haha)
but
I was enrolling in my subjects for next sem, and apparently you can add subjects that aren't running to your study plan? :p  OPTO10002 seems so interesting.

right?? I've got two more exams tomorrow and friday and this has seriously felt like the longest week ever. At least I had more time to study :/
Mine were all crammed in close together (1 assignment and 3 exams in 5 days with 2 of the exams on one day)

I think I much rather have exams early, but still have a longer SWOTVAC, if that makes sense haha. I've never had an exam in the 3rd week of exam period before this semester, and I can definitely see now why everyone says it's incredibly draining. Having a longer time to study is not worth it for the time eaten out of your holiday(imo). But maybe I'm just saying this because I really can't wait for exams to be over already.  :P

Well, yeah duh cos they're not running this year! Haha
It'll probably run next year, just check with the 2014 page on the Handbook to see if it did?

Does anyone know if you attend all Linear Algebra(MAST10007) tutorials, and did all the assignments, do they scale up your mark to a 50/100 for a Pass even though you failed the exam?

Only if you fail by a few % from memory.

So upfield had a major screw up with the first train having technical issues and the second one stopping at coburg and saying that there was something wrong with the line and would be up to an hr late. I caught the tram into the city but I doubt im gonna be able to get there in time for genetics exam. What should I be doing to try to ensure im not disadvantaged?

Please and thanks heaps in advance

My friend missed her exam once (didn't let her in when she got there) cos of train faults. But she got to take the special exam a few weeks later, so I wouldn't stress too much. Just get there ASAP

Yup, if you arrive too late the people in the red vests at the venue will refer you to the Exam Support Stall, who will direct you to talk to Advocacy at Union House, and your student centre for advice. You should be able to apply for Special Consideration after. :)

Yep, I was stopped at coburg also at around 7:50 and had to hop on a tram on Sydney road. It was chaotic!

Had a nice jog from UoM to REB.

It's situations like these that encourage me to get to REB at least one hour early...never again.

Nope. If you only just fail the subject and your tutorial attendance was good you might get bumped up to a pass, but I wouldn't bank on it. The only thing you're guaranteed is that if you fail, your exam will be re-marked by two people (usually a tutor and the subject coordinator) and all of your other assessment marks double-checked.

If it's an unusually hard exam it might get scaled up, but that would affect everyone, not just you.

I'm looking at enrolling for semester 2, and there's only one subject (Foundations of Electrical Networks) that I actually need for my Electrical Systems major...

i.e. I have 3 subjects to fill in with random things

Is this normal for most 2nd years?

I'd imagine so for some majors. My friend in commerce who is doing a single major (Finance only) chose 5 elective subjects this year, as he only needed to do BusFi as a prereq for his major.
