Lol Melbourne uni. Never change.
But they did change! They fixed this last year, and somehow it's one step forward, two steps backwards  ::)

Two of my subjects have classes that say are "Not Available", been waiting for 5 hrs now  :'( . Anyone else having similar problems?

Is one of those subjects Anatomy by any chance? If yes, it's because registration opens on the 15th feb :)

No, they're Mechanical Dynamics and Mechanics and Materials. How can you find out if they're released at a later date?

It was mentioned on the timetable itself..something to do with selection quotas etc. Maybe contact the head of department and find out when they are released. :)

If you're desperate to get class rego up I've heard of somebody having success changing browsers (Chrome --> Safari). Alternatively, clearing your cookies never hurts so that's also a last resort.

e: looks like it's in maintenance mode until 9pm anyway

I actually cheered when I saw that. I wish they'd just taken it down earlier and stopped anyone from getting on- would have been fair

I actually haven't even enrolled in any of my subjects because I was still thinking about breadth.   :'(

I'll be staying up tonight as long as it takes lol. What happens if I don't enrol in any subjects by tomorrow?

Technically you have until the 31st of March before the census date for enrolment, but you will have missed 3-4 weeks of class by that point, and if you're wanting a concession card you really have to sort it out by the end of February.

Administratively-speaking, I don't believe anything will happen in that you won't be thrown out of uni or w/e, but if you're not enroled then you can't register for classes, and if you take too long to pick them then they might fill up, and you'll either have to pick different ones, or end up in the awfullest tutorial slots (i.e. 8 in the morning and 6 in the evening :P)

Have you narrowed down your subject choices at all? I'd seriously recommend just choosing a sample platter of interesting stuff and/or prerequisites and enroling in that - otherwise you'll be left hanging tomorrow (assuming any of us get in at all).

At least enrol in the ones you know you want to do; you can sort out your breadth later :)

I haven't even been able to enrol in the ones I know are definite. The page just kept freezing and then an error page came up, and then the maintenance page came up. I was trying since I got the text message from Melbourne uni at 4pm. Silly me, haven't been checking my emails. I honestly had no idea there was a 'date' for timetabling. I just thought we had up until O-week

For calc 1, i have three lectures and one practical.

Is the practical meant to be a tutorial? If not, what is it and what do you do?

for (most?) maths subjects the tutorial is where you work in a group to complete questions on a whiteboard - honestly it's very chill hahaha.

Ah, yeah, that'd be the hundreds of people trying to log on at the same time today :P See if you can manage to access your study plan at 9 once things (supposedly) come back online. You don't want to be waiting for that whilst trying to juggle your timetable at the same time. Luckily enrolment should be quick if you know what you want to do, so hopefully you can get that out of the way prior to 10 am tomorrow.

There'll also be an extra 20% quota for first year subjects released on the 19th so, worst case scenario, if you can't get into your ideal slots, see if more places will open up then :)

You do have up until O-week. Everyone wants to get in early for some reason even though there is a second round of class places released in a few weeks. Demand then is much longer. I'm not sure where quota subjects sit with all this, no idea how they fill up or not.

Realistically it doesn't make much sense for the University to spend limited money on a system that is used twice a year with no real negatives. Money spent on oversizing the system by some stupid factor could be better spent on Wifi upgrades, computers etc that have a year long impact.

With everyone demanding compensation from the uni, really. The uni never promised you a 'good' timetable, it just said you could attend which is better than a lot of people. I guess the uni could just transition to Allocate+ and then you just get to stick in preferences and that's it, no fighting.

Timetable finally just worked for me. I also got the class I wanted. It was super quick and worked on two different browsers. Anyone else?
