It took months (two from memory) to get mine approved. You can email them, but it doesn't do anything :(

Random Q, but You know how they say our results get released in July... the results they release are they our exam marks? Or are they our averages for each subjects?

Your weighted averages which become your overall unit grade. You should be able to work out your exam marks from this if you would like.

If you have your marks for every other piece of assessment, you can just do some easy maths to figure it out.

E.g. if I have 3 assignments, each worth 20%, and a 40% exam, I could add together all my assignment scores/20 to a number out of 60. Let's say I have 50/60 before the exam. If I end up with a final mark of 80 for the subject, I know that I got 30/40 (75%) in the exam.

(there's probably some really dumb mathematical error in my post, i'll just blame it on the fact that it's late)

sounds right

I always work out what I need on the exam to get a certain grade using my assignment marks like this

Heya guys,

So my breadth subject ended in week 11. Do you guys think I'll receive my final results soon and much earlier than when results are usually released? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks so much

for me i just learnt all the theory. i literally just focussed on studying the theory for 100% of my exam prep and i did pretty well on it. alot of people tried to learn all the case studies as well and develop stuff for them but you spread yourself way too thin that way. also it was quite funny, when i did it there were heaps of case studies that could potentially be on the exam, and everyone i knew studied for all of the case studies except one (the apple one) thinking there was no way it would be on the exam (i think cos it was the only case that happened during the semester or something (maybe it was the only one we didnt study in the semester)) but sure enough it came on the exam and alot of people did shit.

i would say for all management and marketing subjects your best bet is to just make sure you know everything in the course and tackle the exam when you open it, rather than do specific "exam prep" like learning cases and that sort of thing. + this way you will actually have a better knowledge of the content.

would anyone happen to know what happens if you fail a subject that is worth no credit in any course? It's offered by UoM commercial and doesn't show up on the study plan for my course or in my statement of enrolment, I was given a new LMS account to access it

I'm worried that I'll be in danger of unsatisfactory progress... :/

the subject is available as a normal unit under a different name (mine is delivered online) but the exams are the same etc which is why I'm having this concern

i dont think there will be any repurcussions except you will have to pay the fees for a subject. if its not on your study plan it wont affect anything regarding jobs or applying for post grad. unless you did it as a CAP subject to fulfill a pre-req but im pretty sure you can still use the same lms account for those.
i'd talk to stop 1 if youre still concerned but i dont really see it having any other effect.
unsatisfactory progress related to you appearing to not be able to complete your degree in a timely manner.  and even if something like that did happen im sure there would be almost 0 consequences unless you are a repeatedly fail alot of subjects. i have a friend who failed 3/4 subjects one semester, 3/3 the next semester, and 1/3 the semester after that, and nothing really happened. they just tried to figure out why he failed so much and to remedy the situation. after failing alot again in 2nd sem 2nd year this semester they have suspended his enrolment for 1 semester to make sure he actually wants to do university and is ready to start trying and then if he fails 2/2 next semester then i think he will be asked to leave. but basically yeah you have alot of leeway before anything negative really happens, and if this subject isnt even a part of your degree i dont think it would affect anything anyway.

but ask stop 1 if ur unsure

Thank you so much for this, I feel a bit better but I'll still ask stop 1 just to be sure

I forgot to mention the main reason why I thought I'd be at risk... it's because I failed this same subject last year (as part of my degree) so it would be failing twice... lol :/

But it's the only subject I've failed

I have some evidence about my circumstances from last year and now so I have a reason I suppose but I just don't want to get terminated :/ bc on the UoM website it says failing twice = unsatisfactory progress

Did your friend happen to fail the same thing twice??? Or just all different fails?

Trying to apply for special consideration for my exams for mental health reasons and I'm running into a few road blocks. If anyone has been in a similar situation, please help.

1. I have to apply 'within 4 working days' for each assessment. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean I can apply in 4 day windows BEFORE and AFTER my exam? Why can't I apply, say, 12 days before my assessment? (or can I)? I want to apply for consideration for all four exams, so why can't I just do this all at once instead of having to wait days?

2. I have the option to attach multiple pieces of assessment to the application. If they are not all 4 days apart, is this still the correct procedure, or am I meant to make separate special consideration applications with the same HPR form?

3. Does this apply under 'medical', 'hardship/trauma', or 'other'?

This is a terribly bureaucratic and confusing process for people in need of genuine help.
