Free TSFX passes for financially disadvantaged students!
« on: October 10, 2011, 03:10:30 pm »
+16
An opportunity exists for financially disadvantaged students to gain free entrance into TSFX (The School For Excellence) lectures at the University of Melbourne. These lectures provide students with the extra insight and expert tips to achieve academic success, to help you achieve the best in VCE.  If you believe you are financially disadvantaged and wish to take advantage of this opportunity, follow the instructions at the bottom of this announcement.  ATARNotes is thrilled to have been chosen to assist in this charitable donation and will act as the vehicle to continue ensuring that financially disadvantaged students are allowed the same opportunities as their peers.

What is being offered?

TSFX has generously supplied us with a number of free lecture passes to their lectures beginning 15th of October 2011. You will also receive TSFX's extensive subject lecture notes for the subjects you attend. These passes are limited, so please understand that if you apply for one and can afford it, you will be robbing a person in financial need of this opportunity. These are ordinarily sold for between $85 and $110. You can view all of the lectures that are available at http://www.tsfx.com.au/vic/vceprograms/essentials/essentials.htm

How do I apply for this?

Please e-mail [email protected] with the subject line “TSFX Lectures”. You should include in your application:

1) Your name
2) Your site username
3) Your school
4) A list of subject lectures you wish to attend, in order of preference
5) Proof of financial disadvantage. If your parents have a centrelink healthcare card, a scan of this will suffice. Alternatively, if your school is in an area with an ICSEA of less than 975 (ICSEA is the myschool.edu.au measure of a school’s socio-economic level and you can find out your school’s ICSEA at http://www.myschool.gov.au), a scan of your student card will be sufficient. If you do not have these forms of proof, you may still apply but please attempt to establish your financial means so that we can make an informed decision.

We take your privacy very seriously and following the lectures for each year, all sensitive information provided (such as scans of documents) will be destroyed. No information will be shared with anybody outside of the ATARNotes or TSFX staff.

We will let you know of the outcome of your application within 72 hours.

Very nice!

But I would like to say that since you are requiring submission of private (and identifiable) information, you should have a privacy policy.

Being drafted as we speak. The idea only got into motion very recently, and as the exams are coming up quickly, it was imperative to get the word out asap.

That only works if you are the only person who can access the admin email address, and who is to say that TSFX are only going to let Irena see the info?

Huh? I -am- the only person who can access the admin e-mail address, and I'm not going to share it with anybody not listed in the privacy policy...

Just to clarify things, the three administrators all have individual emails.

Dan: [email protected]
Nina: [email protected]
Myself: [email protected]

Nina and I have no utility in seeing your private details, hence only Dan's email is listed. Hope that clears it up on our side of things :)

TSFX on the other hand will be aware of the privacy policy and I very much trust that they will not breach it.

It specifically says that it will only be made available to Dan and Irena, which implies that it won't be passed on to a third party (which implies it will not be sold to a third party either).

The two following lines are just reassuring from our side that no such thing will occur.

Thank you guys. Does anyone know if we can swap the TSFX tickets for UOM for Bendigo? (Just is closer, and would be easier to organise).

‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."
