Jesus....A cutoff of 195 is getting pretty ridiculous. They say UMAT counts for 25% of your medical application, but really, if you don't pass the (seriously high) threshold, you can't even get an interview. To me it seems like they're cutting off a whole lot of people who could have the personality to make an awesome doctor. Just really frustrating. I know a lot of people who are incredibly outgoing, engaging and passionate who have a very high level on intelligence but fell just short of the threshold in previous years. I acknowledge it's difficult for the universities, but it is seriously strict system.
I was just surprised that with a score of 196, being in the top 4% of UMAT candidates, I only just scraped through to the Monash MMI stage. I mean, that is pretty tight.
