Monash 2011 Interviews

Interview offers have been confirmed to be coming out this week, good luck to all those who applied.

If you want to discuss the interviews, the process, let others know of your offers etc. please use this thread :)
If you're interviewing elsewhere, post here as well, it's just that most of the members are Victorian and Monash is the only Victorian uni with undergrad medicine.

At some point, I (and anyone else with experience) will post advice/scenarios to discuss etc.

Both UWS and Monash are MMI's, if anyone has done an interview at both uni's, do you think they were similar?

You don't get to book the interview with Monash, you get allocated a slot (god knows why, USyd let you book and that was the best alternative for everyone)

@Paul, all MMIs are intrinsically similar, the only thing that really differs is how many scenario questions you get and how many "normal" interview questions you get. At some point I'll write something up about what they're like and how to respond etc.

I rang Monash last week and the lady said we get an email with a link to a preference page in which we can select our date...perhaps they've finally changed it? It'd make more sense anyway...

Need chem/methods tutoring?
I'm offering it based predominantly in the south-eastern suburbs (Caulfield-ish) - PM me.

Supposedly it's just an email, so make sure you check your spam as well over the next couple of days :P

btw for those of you that are curious the cut-off this year was 195 (unweighted sum of the 3 scores) and only 350 applicants were successful for the December interviews :)

Jesus....A cutoff of 195 is getting pretty ridiculous. They say UMAT counts for 25% of your medical application, but really, if you don't pass the (seriously high) threshold, you can't even get an interview. To me it seems like they're cutting off a whole lot of people who could have the personality to make an awesome doctor. Just really frustrating. I know a lot of people who are incredibly outgoing, engaging and passionate who have a very high level on intelligence but fell just short of the threshold in previous years. I acknowledge it's difficult for the universities, but it is seriously strict system.
I was just surprised that with a score of 196, being in the top 4% of UMAT candidates, I only just scraped through to the Monash MMI stage. I mean, that is pretty tight.

So they're out now - they have sent emails to everybody
I have to admit.. I am bitterly disappointment.
The cut off was an unweighted total score of 195. I got 194.
Oh well.. off to Melbourne Uni Biomed I suppose.

How did you all go?

but yeah 195 is ridiculously high, kids with 95th percentile didn't even get an interview
