Any Musical Theatre Goers on ATARnotes?

To be honest, I really love musicals. I find musical soundtracks so much more relaxing to listen to than mainstream music. So I was just wondering, does anyone here like musicals? Does anyone else think that they are really relaxing to listen to? Oh and by the way, my favourite musicals are Doctor Zhivago and Next to Normal which dominate my iPod 'most played'  :D

FYI, I swear I am a straight male who was brought up by a mother who took me to every single musical that came to Melbourne, whether or not I wanted to go  :P

Used to love musicals because I played the music for them in high school a lot, not so much now, I just don't have the chance to listen to them much! The last few I did were Into the Woods, The Producers (omg love it so much), Seussical, and Mikado

LOL @ your mother. If I ever have kids I'm dragging them to every musical, opera and concert I can xD

I approve of this.  I'm a straight male who PERFORMS in musical theatre.  ...yeah...

Also, my favourite musical of all time is Chess, which puts me in about 0.0001% of the musical theatre population.  :p

Haha I've resigned to the fact that I'm not the best singer, so I prefer to watch. Yeah ninwa the Producers is a fantastic musical, you're so lucky to be able to perform in it  ;)

Funnily enough EZ, I understand completely where you're getting at! Last year Chess was one of my favourite musicals, even though pretty much nobody had heard of it. Myself and a couple of mates actually went to see Wesley College perform it, even though none of us actually knew anyone from the school  :P
Myself and one of my mates still occasionally spontaneously burst out singing 'The Interview' from Chess when we get bored  ;D

I saw half of a recording of a Chess performance before. It was pretty cool from what I saw of it, I never got to see the end half though :(

One day you must listen/watch it all laseredd! It is really good, but for some silly reason it was a failure as a musical... and yet Mamma Mia was a commercial success (funnily enough the male members of ABBA wrote Chess  :P)

Haha I'm lucky enough to have many friends who love musicals!
Aaand now it's Springtime for Hitler and Germany!!!!

I think my favourite version is Michael Ball, although having just heard Warlowe...

A while back on this forum, (under a different account), I was bagged for having an avatar featuring Judy Garland from 'Meet me in St Louis'. (And I was a straight male last time I checked.)

I love musicals more than anyone can imagine. Secret music theatre closet freak! I have so many Broadway songs on my iTunes, it's not funny, and whenever someone references something like being hungry, I can burst into a chorus of Feed Me (LSoH).  There are so many witty and sweet and curious things in musicals! I wish I was a good singer so I could be in one =/ dancer, even! Hoping to perform in some productions post-high school :)

You know what's even better, though? I write/review shows for websites with fairly big readerships, so I get to go review musicals. BEST. THING. EVER. I got invited to an after party once, with Amanda Harrison and Christie Whelan. They were both so sweet. I basically sobbed the whole way home with joy. And acted like a complete fangirl. And threw a fit when I got seated next to Bert La Bonte and stuff. Look them up. They're amazing!

Ahaha as you should be EZ! =p SERIOUSLY BRAGGING HERE, BUT SITTING NEXT TO BERT LA BONTE. AND GARETH KEEGAN.

I cried. In my mind ;_; Because I saw them in Next to Normal - which is more rocky but seriously amazing and emotional and it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2009 so, DO IT - and then I sat next to them in joy. It's the best gig ever.

Does anyone else sort of start sobbing towards the end of sad ballads they're singing? I get all choked up with emotion. Part of the reason I would make a fabulous diva.
