Who's had a terrible exam period?

I need some advice people, for I have no idea what the f*** has happened this week :(

So I'm quite a competent student, for anyone that knows me off here will hopefully know this. I've put quite a fair bit of effort into exams, doing at the very least 20+ sets for methods and spesh each, writing down errors/marking harshly etc etc

And yet for some very annoying reason, despite losing 1 mark across the last 4 VCAA exams for methods, I have (what I would call) bombed out completely. I finished with ~20 minutes to spare in methods yesterday, felt good about it until I checked my answers, only to realise that once again, like exam 1, I'd f***Ed it up once again. And exam 1 spesh today, felt good, only lost 1 mark in the past 4 VCAA exam 1's, and once again, stupid mistakes have cost me dearly :(

So I seek my advice from those of you out there who have any advice whatsoever on what I can do, because the feeling of doing all this work for very little is quite a shit feeling indeed. People have told me not to aim as high as I have, but I know I can achieve it, as my previous exam results had shown.

So please, help me, in any way you can, so that for my last 2 exams, I at least complete it with some sort of satisfaction that ive proved what sort of student I am :(

Out of curiosity, whats your definition of "f***Ed it up"
It better not be losing only like 2-3 marks... cos thats more like you killing the exam

nah, more than that. I know everyone has a different opinion on what it is, but me personally had very high aims for myself, because I knew I could achieve it. But I've just fallen way short of what I desired. On last count, I've lost close to 10 for methods yesterday and perhaps a few more on exam 1. And lost 3, maybe for on spesh today, when it really was a easy 40 to get...

lol luken
think of it this way;
you have a solid 47 up in your top 4 (if u want higher in your top 4, it'd make a difference of like 1-2 aggregate..unless bus man scales down a lot)
spesh apparently scales 11 this year.
u published ur own practice exam and are doing MUEP chem (guaranteed 50+/premiers ?)
idk about english
in short im fairly sure you can get into any course you want, plus ur umat is pretty damn perfect

sidenote: Was spesh easier than methods? if so, damn you vcaa in every possible way!

Just keep soldiering on! I feel pretty similar, I had an exam today and it went really well, so I'm feeling pretty positive at the moment, but the last week or two have been full of sleepless nights and general feelings of miserableness. Keep pushing! We're so close to the end, don't given in to the dismay!

Haha thanks buddy, yeah it's just sort of culminating for my last exam - chem. The fact that I'm so close to 50 for it, I don't just want to mess it up knowing how close I am...but yeah, I just need 1 subject to go well and then all will be good haha...just need that to happen :P

@matt, yeah definitely realizing that now :P

I've had a bad week and a half too luken. My english is going to screw me over, my text response was absolutely S*** and the other sections were average. First methods exam I did stupid things, technicallities that will lose me marks. I had to try and move past it for exam 2 which I felt better in doing, didn't make as many mistakes. Today I felt really really good doing the exam, check everything and everything seemed to fit fine, and I was jumping up and down (literally) after we walked out, as question 4 clicked for me with 6 minutes to go. I came and had a look at the solutions, to find that I missed the plot on question 1 and lost 4 maybe even 5 marks on the paper, A+ is gone and I have to ace tomorrow to have a chance.

We will always make mistakes, we're human after all (the answer to your question what happened to us?). We just have to go in there and try our best, if it doesn't come together on the day, then there is not much we can do, we have to move forward (with postive velocity) for the next exam. You can still do this Luken, don't give up or you'll regret it afterwards. It is still possible to do well, and out of all of us you're got one of the best chances too. Plus as said above that is one pretty G umat score. Luken you are going to do well.

Say this out loud to yourself.
"I've tried hard all year and put the effort in, I know what I'm doing, I know the course inside out. I CAN STILL DO THIS, I'M GOING TO GIVE IT MY BEST and whatever happens, happens".

Maybe don't look at the sols tomorrow afterwards, I should learn to do that aswell (I'm going to be watching a Big Bang episode instead  :) ).

Good luck mate, we know you can do it.

EDIT: just fixed up mistakes in Homophones, e.g. two, to and too. Geez no wonder I'm not good at english.

Thanks a lot mate, that definitely lifted my spirits somewhat, especially considering we are very similar in both ability and performance this week :P

"whatever happens, happens".

+1. This is something I continue to tell myself. It really does calm me down for some reason :S

@ Luken. Don't worry too much buddy. I know you feel you did worse than you were expecting, but you might find that your study scores are as high as you are hoping on December 16. I know I was surprised last year. Hence, just relax... and study for your remaining exams.
For methods, if you made these errors, I can confidently tell you that 90-95% of the state made far more overall. A lot of students at my school, who I know are capable of very high scores, made mistakes too.
For spesh, we still got exam 2. I know Exam 1 was "comparatively easy," but it means really little if you do well tomorrow. We also can't really say it was easy until we find out the cut-offs. Who knows... perhaps most the state made more than 3 mistakes. I know we all predicted the A+ cut-off being higher this year, it may in fact be lower.
Also, note that if tomorrow happens to be a very difficult exam, as we should both be hoping, you'll start to see the minimal impact of exam 1.

As for my personal exam period, it only started today so I can't really comment yet. :P Best of luck with your two remaining exams.

"I dropped 3 marks in the spesh exam!!!"

It goes up by 11..... easy or not I'm sure kids screwed up.
Please stop complaining.
look, I realise what you're saying, but scaling means very little to me, I'm sure the majority of kids doing maths here that are hoping for 40+ care very little about scaling, it's more about personal goals...well it is for me anyway...as I said, everyone has their own goals, I guess mine are higher and may seem pretty ignorant because I'm aiming to be high in the state, but I just think I could've done better, that's all :)

@ luffy; thats very true, I think I've just gotta go in tomorrow knowing that it's not conditional probability :P every exam is separate, and everything this week means nothing about my performance tomorrow :) might write some of these things on my bound book tomorrow :P

He wasn't complaining, he was asking if anyone else is having a similar experience. The general purpose of this community/forum... so yeah cool.

Also, feel free to use the actual quote button if you're referencing something someone else has posted. Copying what the you think is the general message of someone's topic and then applying an immature tone and multiple exclamation marks doesn't fool anyone into thinking that the original post was childish or unnecessary, it just makes you look lazy and manipulative.
