Listening is going to be so scary =c
**The exam is going to be so scary :o
I want the exam to be over with! But at the same time, i want to get a decent mark....
I feel like giving up on listening and just wing that, already decided to wing the reading, and only going to go through structures again for the essays...

Very true. I swear every exam I've gone into I've been shaking the whole way through. Jap is just so much worse because you have to rely on your english speaking brain to do a foreign exam. fjewngioeq

I feel like winging the whole damn thing. I feel so helpless lol. Do you think this year's exam will be really hard? Because last year's was really easy (apparently). I think one tip my teacher also gave was always leave the writing until the end. because you can literally just go crazy with it and write whatever. But just make sure you plan your structure well before you dive in.

Going over essay structures is a really good use of time. Structure is a criteria so if you get it down pat, you're guaranteed to score well in that criteria c= I need to revise kanji because I've totally forgotten about it =l

I really can't be bothered doing anything right now though -_- So many people have finished their exams already! not fair =l

easiest part will be reading and responding in English, but I'm dreading listening and responding in Japanese :O
And also the last question for the reading is usually a tough one.

JayCanteloupe, you need a more positive attitude!!! If it's hard, it's hard for everyone so don't worry about it :)
With the reading section just copy paste answers haha, and use dictionary!!

Have you guys tried just...remembering the audio? Like as if you were talking to a friend, you'd probably remember what they said 2 minutes ago.

I thought they dislike it if you copy and paste, you have to write the sentence in a different way? Anyway i suck at reading and responding in japanese :( Responding in japanese is the worst.

Whats better for reading and responding in japanese (and listening):
-Leaving answers blank and answering 1 question you are sure on
-Answering the 1 question you know but just having a wild guess at the others?

haha I'm scared of failing D= I love the copy and paste abilities we have for the jap reading though =D The last question is always so hard...

but usually when you try to remember the audio don't you find all the words just jumbled in your brain >< Because as English speakers we're used to the grammar structures of what we hear so it's easy. But when it's in Japanese all the words are just... all over the place.

Here's a question to all of you for the reading part! :O

So i did a listening question: (from the leading edge book...the practise exam 3)

Q. WHAT DO JAPANESE PEOPLE DO ON WHITE DAY?

and i wrote: バレンタインの 人 に ワイト チョコレート と 「ありがと」を あげる。

but the answer was (from the leading edge book): バレンタインでは チョコレート を くれた人 に ワイト チョコレート と 「ありがと」を あげる。

Would i have lost the mark?

The answer from the book was exactly the transcript..surely VCAA doesn't expect us to copy and paste everything, ne? Would my answer be accepted?

I have doubts on this :P
2010: TNT (39)
2011: English (42) | Bio (39) | Chem (35) | Jap (35) | Methods (36)|

ATAR: 95.50 ( i actually got my prediction! :D)

for the listening jap responding section - here's a few kanji words that I think may crop up

道具 (どうぐ)
花見 (はなみ)
新聞 (しんぶん)
売店 (ばいてん)
林 (はやし)
半島 (はんとう)

anyone else want to take a punt?

Well if your sure that you have one answer correct, what have you got to lose having a pot shot at the others? I would haha, especially if i only have one key word, I would just take an educated guess at it.

Sorry liuetenant, I'm not sure D:     What is WHITE DAY lol?

Furbob, where are you pulling those out from haha? There's so many combinations of kanji >.<  And is hantou like, a bay/peninsula?

Pretty sure it's absolutely fine to copy and paste.

Don't ever leave anything blank. Even if you think it's ridiculous, write it down. I understand your hesitation because I feel self-conscious sometimes if I hand up work to the teacher and it's all totally random guesses...And you think that they think you're dumb or something. But to the VCE examiners you're just a number so they won't know who you are if you make a fool of yourself =D

you would have lost a mark on the grammar

*「ありがとう」と言って、ホワイトチョコレートをあげます。

in jap "giving thanks" doesnt work like it does in english unfortunately :(

I personally remember writing

バレンタインデイーにチョコレートをくれた人に「ありがとう」と言って、ホワイトチョコレートをあげます

but bleh, how anal does VCAA want to be :(

oh, some expressions they throw in that I've heard before that aren't on the VCAA study design...

そう言えば = speaking of that...
plain formはずです = I expect/believe
plain formべきです = "should" (like 方がいい, means "they ought to")
plain formようです = it seems (stronger than そう, as supported by evidence/raw facts)
しょうがないな。。。 = well there's no use complaining....

I was more worried about losing marks because it may be irrelevant, or yuo sentence structures may be wrong etc...
But i suppose a page of well written japanese should be ok :/

Gahhh.... i struggle so band when the string kanji together and they have different meanings/pronunciations :(
