I thought they dislike it if you copy and paste, you have to write the sentence in a different way? Anyway i suck at reading and responding in japanese :( Responding in japanese is the worst.

Whats better for reading and responding in japanese (and listening):
-Leaving answers blank and answering 1 question you are sure on
-Answering the 1 question you know but just having a wild guess at the others?

Pretty sure it's absolutely fine to copy and paste.

Don't ever leave anything blank. Even if you think it's ridiculous, write it down. I understand your hesitation because I feel self-conscious sometimes if I hand up work to the teacher and it's all totally random guesses...And you think that they think you're dumb or something. But to the VCE examiners you're just a number so they won't know who you are if you make a fool of yourself =D
I was more worried about losing marks because it may be irrelevant, or yuo sentence structures may be wrong etc...
But i suppose a page of well written japanese should be ok :/

Gahhh.... i struggle so band when the string kanji together and they have different meanings/pronunciations :(
Ohh. Yeah I do that a lot actually... Well in regards to the sentence structures, you can't really do much to help that except revise your grammar now.

But the irrelevance thing is hard... I guess just look at how many marks each question is allocated. Or, with the responding in jap part, just write what you definitely know. Look up words you don't know... Stare at your notes for a while to see if you can figure out the meaning... If it were me I'd be too scared to not put stuff in but that's probably a bad idea.

I say all these things based on my instincts so by all means, you can reject my advice haha. Everyone approaches these things differently.

Essentially I think you should just go with your gut feeling though...

Here's a question to all of you for the reading part! :O

So i did a listening question: (from the leading edge book...the practise exam 3)

Q. WHAT DO JAPANESE PEOPLE DO ON WHITE DAY?

and i wrote: バレンタインの 人 に ワイト チョコレート と 「ありがと」を あげる。

but the answer was (from the leading edge book): バレンタインでは チョコレート を くれた人 に ワイト チョコレート と 「ありがと」を あげる。

Would i have lost the mark?

The answer from the book was exactly the transcript..surely VCAA doesn't expect us to copy and paste everything, ne? Would my answer be accepted?

I have doubts on this :P

you would have lost a mark on the grammar

*「ありがとう」と言って、ホワイトチョコレートをあげます。

in jap "giving thanks" doesnt work like it does in english unfortunately :(

I personally remember writing

バレンタインデイーにチョコレートをくれた人に「ありがとう」と言って、ホワイトチョコレートをあげます

but bleh, how anal does VCAA want to be :(

So as long as i've got the grammar/ vocab/ kanji all correct...as well as the CONTEXT of what they're looking for, the answer would still be correct, ne? my sentence doesn't have to be transcript perfect? :D (if so, that would be music to my ears :D)

If it's relevant, correct grammar and kanji I see no reason why you wouldn't get marks.

The relevance thing is so dodgy. Some practice exams I've done I gave more than needed and some I've underdone it. But both were about the same level of content. So it seems like it's just how the assessors are feeling that year :/

I will probably attempt to fill in all the details for the sake of completing the exam otherwise i will probably regret it! Ill have an 'educated' guess.... It wont be educated lol if anything it will be some random sentence taken from the text :P

Anyway is there any point in doing a prac exam tonight? Or sohuld i just stick to reviewing grammar/kanji/vocab/structures and maybe do a few listening/reading tasks?

Also does anyone know what grades yield certain study scores? - is it the same as normal subjects or different because its a lote? Because ive heard that a B+ on the exam with B/B+ sacs gets you low 30s for jap?

Do both :P We have time tomorrow morning too!

And I'm not sure, guy on the vcejapanese.net got a raw 50
"What marks to strive for? I managed to get 50 raw with a total exam score of 382/400 and 100/100 for SACs. It was a fairly hard year, with low A+ cut offs, which would’ve helped."

edit: did site just go down for like 2 mintues?

No you're right, that is definitely wrong, unless you were a school kid speaking colloquial or whatever you would never say that.

こまってるそうね。よくないね。でも、心ぱいしないで。ポーストでJayCanteloupeさんは日本語にとてもきょうみを持っていることが分かって、やる気がある生徒だと思います。だから、自分にしんじてね。
