Day 2: I got attacked by a wasp while sitting on the grass near Matheson library and trying to eat my lunch.
Also, Hargrave-Andrews library got a bit of a makeover - the study area towards the back of the first floor has been extended, with all the bookshelves removed and replaced with rows of desks.

Didn't actually look inside, but at the end of last year there was a cafe of sorts and an asian takeout (12 dumplings for $9.50 anyone?). Apparently there used to be a kebab shop?

Yeah, loved that place hahaha. Are the dumplings good? That's not a bad deal.

I thought they were pretty good (although, you won't know whether you like them until you try them )! These are the boiled dumplings btw (you have to order and wait for the kitchen to make them), not the pan-fried ones (these pre-made and sitting in the warmer - I think you get an 8 for $9.50 deal with those instead). Pork is my favourite for both types

The place is called Ma Long. They make awesome stir fry's too - 10/10 would recommend!

The feeling when you have a completely full lecture in South 1, and the other lecture slot is a Friday 5pm-7pm so you know it's unlikely to change.

I'm currently doing a double degree (Bach of I.T and Science) and have been regretting the decisions I made. I was wondering if it's possible to turn my double degree into a single degree (Bach. of Sci) anytime soon? or in time for when semester 2 starts? The reason is, I don't enjoy and am finding it difficult in the I.T side of the course and would really like to withdraw before fees (census date: 31st march) start kicking in  . I was looking online, and I have until the end week 2 to add/remove units. Please help me!

As far as I know, you can definitely drop the one of your degrees if you're doing a double degree.
I think it's best if you have a look at ask.monash (you can also submit queries through ask.monash) and also maybe have a chat to a course counsellor. You could also seek advice from unit coordinators main idea of the message is - it's best to contact Monash directly if you want to desist with one aspect of your (double) degree.

Hey, welcome to ATAR Notes. Your I.T. degree aside, I hope you've enjoyed the transition to uni thus far!

Good questions. There will be people here who have more appropriate insights than I do (I never transferred degrees), but what I will say is it's probably worth speaking to your faculty about this. Science Student Services would be a good place to start.

Are you regretting I.T. based solely on the first couple of weeks? What made you want to study it in the first place?

A friend of mine picked IT/Sci last year and about a week in, only wanted to do the IT side. They went to a course counsellor and they were recommended to pick units according to the single IT degree to prevent delaying their course (rather than according to the double degree structure), until they could get an official transfer out of the double degree. They were basically doing an IT course, but were officially listed as doing IT/Sci (with no Science units).

As others have said, definitely go to your relevant faculty's student services to get some advice as soon as possible!
