picking a unit just because it is supposed to be 'easy', and on that basis alone, is a recipe for disaster. all first year units are relatively easy too.
Gotta disagree with you on a couple of points there.
Picking a unit just because it's supposed to be easy isn't necessarily a bad thing; in fact it's almost universal if you're trying to bump up GPA/WAM, especially for those in the latter stages of their course. It's only sometimes a problem (and only for some people) if it's an easy unit but you know you're going to hate it, and therefore put no effort in because fuck it.
Also, not all first year units are relatively easy. For example, BMS1052 is pretty bloody tricky and definitely comparable to second-year biomed and third-year science units. MTH1030/1035 is notorious for being a bastard of a unit. According to several engineering students I know, ENG1091 was and continues to be a little bit of a fucking nightmare.
I would like a unit in BusEco or Arts. I've looked at ATS1297 but don't know if it's worth taking since I don't like English and writing but i'd think it'd be helpful for assignments that involve essays??
A lot of people do basic commerce units (
Principles of Accounting and Finance, or micro/macroeconomic etc. etc.), or marketing or something like that. They're probably not going to be a breeze if you don't put in the effort, but that goes for most units.
Arts is very very broad; did you have a specific area of study in mind (like, philosophy, a language, politics/international relations etc.)? If you're after a (reportedly) piss-easy unit, and you fulfil the requirements, apparently
ATS2743 is rather easy.
