Calm down guys, last years scaling was shit compare to this years, my 44 is basically the same as 40 this year.
2009: Chinese SLA

Have you tried latin? I "learnt" latin in yrs 7 and 8 and found it ridiculously difficult. Good latin teachers are rare, and tutors are even rarer. There are so many conjugations and what-not to remember too, very hard imo.

I agree that scaling for something like Chinese SL is a bit over-the-top (especially as many doing this had a solid Chinese background as children anyway... -mini rant).

For languages it doesn't matter if it's "hard." Then everyone finds it hard. SS is a ranking. It's the random +5 that is absolutely massive for higher scaling subs that makes it ridiculous. Lets say in spesh

30 -> 43 or something


lets say french 30 -> 43 or something (not exact, just for points of this comparison).

in spesh, the MEDIAN study score of all students in ALL THEIR OTHER SUBJECTS is 43. In french, it is only 38.
