99.00+ MD Guaranteed pathway

Just a quick question: Does the guarantee only stand if you do a Melb undergrad degree? Ie. if I chose to do undergrad at Monash, then that removes the 99+ guaranteed place in Melbourne MD?
(I'm fairly sure that the guarantee only stands for Melb undergrads, but just double checking)
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

Would you actually be willing to pay the 300k?

It seems like a joke to me, I mean 300,000 for an education.

230k to be more exact but people would only use this as a backup. Everyone is going to try get the CSP place.

$230,000 for MD + 27 under grand so all up ~260 k, seems like an awful amount of money, where would you get it from man?

People typically get FEE-HELP. You don't pay anything (or not much) now and you pay back the money as you start working.

"For 2012, the FEE‑HELP limit is $112,134 for students undertaking medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses (as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003), and $89,706 for all other students"

That's still a >$100,000 loan you are paying interest on whilst you're an intern and training to specialise.

Well firstly I have an undergrad scholarship, secondly I would do GAMSAT to try and get a CSP place, thirdly it's not all that much in the scheme of things. You'd make it back in a few years as a doctor.

How much is your scholarship worth?

2. I think it is a lot of money in the scheme of things, that's my point. If you're supporting yourself when you're 24, still studying medicine, most people struggle just to get by, let alone paying interest on a 100k loan. It just seems undoable without parents help to me.

This, and your interview for CSP is guaranteed as well because they have to give it to you because of the FFP guarantee.

Actually about that, unless they changed it I'm pretty sure you do not get a CSP interview unless you do the GAMSAT. I know someone has asked the faculty and seems to have gotten a response that supports what you said but I'm still skeptical. This year when I got my interview, I was told I got a CSP interview even though I had a FFP guarantee, but this was because I had done the GAMSAT.

Scholarship will cover undergrad hecs. Also, I have these wonderful things called parents-who-will-let-me-live-with-them-until-I-can-support-myself-properly. And a brother who earns more than he can spend.
